Default Attn. EWF Experts-What was this Earth Wind & Fire Track?

I am a fan of EWF and consider myself pretty much on-point with their material. There is this one song that I can never seem to catch the name of. I don't hear it very often and when I do, It's usually at a time when I can't directly focus on it. It puts me in the mind of "Caribou" from the "Open Our Eyes" album and "Sun Godess" from the Ramsey Lewis album of the same title. The only lyrics I know are this...(well, not really lyrics; Just EW&Fire-ish chants which they were famous for.

>Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba
>Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba--BYE
>Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Dee-Ahh-Dee-Ahh-Dee-Ahh-Dee-Ahh

I have heard dj's jack this sample for mixes many times over the years

It sounds like none other than the great Philip Bailey singing the lyrics. One thing I'm almost sure of...It's not from any of their following albums:
Earth,Wind & Fire (1971)
The Need Of Love (1971)
Last Days In Time (1972)
Head To The Sky (1973)
Open Our Eyes (1973)
That's The Way Of The World (1973)
Gratitude (1975) maybe?(this is the only one I don't own from the 70's albums
Spirit (1976)
All' n All' (1977)
I Am (1980)
It's gotta be from one of their 80's albums because that's when I stopped buying them and didn't buy any more until "Millenium" back in 1993 and the one that they have out currently, Last year's "Illumination".

Please hip me EW&F experts.

I believe that is 'Runnin'. I recall it being on one of my jazz funk compilations. I don't know which album it came from. A late 70s production.

I think you're talking about "Brazilian Rhyme" - the one that comes on right after Love's Holiday from the All 'n All LP

If its the same sample that Tribe Called Quest used on their first record (I don't remember the name of the track), then its Brazillian Rhyme. Both tracks are on All N All, so if he gets the record, it'll be there.

It most definitely is Brazilian Rhyme, from All 'n All.

You should try to pick up and listen to the SACD version, the 5.1 mix is incredible and it was produced by Maurice White

I also believe your description is from Brazian Rhyme, lots of posters through the years always looking for this one.

Everyone's right one with the Brazilian Rhyme Interlude from All n All. Try singing that one to a DJ and having him wait until you sung almost all of it to tell you the answer. It's less than 1 minute 1/2 but I always like to play it before "Let's Groove".

while we're on the subject of Earth Wind and Fire, I read somewhere that Maurice White produced some tracks for Neil Diamond. I've read the credits on about a dozen Neil Diamond albums and I see no mention of it, but maybe I'm looking at the wrong albums. I'd sure like to hear those songs if it's true. Anyone know anything about this? I already searched out the songs White produced for Barbra Streisand...

Maurice White produced some tracks and sang background vocals on Neil Diamond's 1986 album "Headed For The Future". Check out:

That is so interesting. Because I just commented on two tracks from this album (not the Maurice White tracks) in relation to the American Idol finals, and the Burt Bacharach tribute that was part of it.

http://www.discomusic.com/forums/t12...on-5-2006.html

Two of my most favorite Burt Bacharach tracks are on the Neil Diamond album: "I'll see you on the radio (Laura)" and "Me beside you" (and yes, you should check these out!).

So all this time I had this album, the only Neil Diamond album I own, and I own it just for these two tracks, to learn today it also contains Maurice White produced tracks. I will check those out tonight at home. You always learn something new from this site :-)

Thumbs up Re: Attn. EWF Experts-What was this Earth Wind & Fire Track?

You all were correct. The track is "Brazilian Ryme". I guess I shouldn't have an excuse for not knowing this one, But it was always a track that I skipped whenever listening plus "All' In All" was one of those releases that even though was good, was definately not my favorite. Big thanks to those who posted replies & for the recommendations.

BTW, the song is credited to Milton Nascimento. I would like to hear his version.
