Delman

Lemmon & Raleigh, Dallas, TX, USA

Formerly the Delman Theater built in 1947. It was converted to disco in the early 80s. The movie screen in the theater was used to show the videos to the dance music. The balcony was glassed-in and it was where you could go to relax without all the noise, but still watch all the action below. The old movie projector was in the lobby and the ladies room was called the "Powder Room." It was mostly a gay crowd, but mixed after hours on the weekends. It stayed open until 6 AM. That's all I remember besides buying X from a guy in the powder room at 4:30 AM.

I went there once in 83 or 84. I was about 16 or 17 but looked way older. It was as cool as described above with a great sound system and lights were awesome. Was not open very long though if I remember correctly. I wish I knew who played there. (DJ's)

I remember seeing Pamela Stanley perform at the Delman in the 80's. Anyone have pictures of this great old building?
I think it was torn down to make way for the Madison Apartments on Cedar Springs.
