New York, New York was a wonderful club. The ambiance was elegant and the decor was fabulous. Powerful sound system and lighting effects enhanced the music. I enjoyed the semi-private parties that everyone seemed to be invited to. New York, New York was always a fun reliable place to bring a date and the staff made everybody feel welcome. I never had a problem with admittance or the hassels sometimes endured at other clubs for wearing the wrong color or not being in theme for the evening. I once brought a girlfriend and her parents as my guests after a dinner at Le Cirque because we were told that they were too old for Studio 54! We would get dressed up in style and dance the night away in New York, New York.
Went to NY NY while visiting John Ceglia. Although it was an "off" (non-weekend) night and the club was pretty empty, it was fascinating and Ceglia's music was fabulous, as always. He never took the easy way out -- spun really well, even if there was no one in the club.
A nice dinner at the Plaza Hotel with my cousing and his present wife from westchester in one of my visits to NY city then i had this invitation to a privet party at this new club call New York New York, the invitation was funny it said that u can get in only with the invitation or if you were beautifull, I was a teen so I guess I had both with me :-)
I told my cousin and his girlfriend by then, that i will take them to this new club with me but only if they aloud me to take then on one of the cart pull by horses that were in front of the Plaza, they lough but they didnt have any other choice, and thats how we got to New York New York, it was a great night, enough is enough was the song played when we got in and I got to meet Peter Franton. he was a famous singer at that time.
Man I realy miss those days.
A VERY NICE CLUB IT WAS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM ATLANTIC RECORDS,WHERE I USE TO PICK UP BACK IN THE DAYS.RAUL WAS GOOD.DO THEY STILL HAVE THE LITTLE JOCKEY STATUES OUTSIDE?
I was a fifteen year old busboy at New York New York. the statue was not at the club, but next door at the 21 club. It was at this venue that I developed a life long love for disco music, that transended in to a love for house music. I too remember DJ Raul he was very good. the sound of the music comming from the richard long sound system is still ingrained in my head. However i seem to remember the club owners as Steve Rubell and his partner at 54 .... at least he was there quite often. well the building was demolished several years ago but the memories well never die

DON'T SEE ANY MENTION OF THE CLUB IN BOSTON ON THE LEFT FIELD SIDE OF FENWAY PARK. 15 LANDSDOWN STREET,
WHICH LATER BECAME BOSTON, BOSTON. ALSO A JOHN ADDISON VENTURE. WHO REMEMBERS IT?
yes, i stand corrected..the statues were next door..and your right, the memories will never die.peace
I too worked for John Addison off and on through several of his New York Clubs. I do remember Boston Boston. it was managed by some guy named Patrick Lyons.
Although I was much tighter w/ Addisons partner FiFi Nicholas, I would love to know what happened to all those fabulous people that survived that magic era!
A lot of people worked for John and Fi Fi at one time or another Steve R also worked for John
