IN YOUR OPINION....WHAT SHOULD BE THE FuNhOuSe THEME SONG?
As for my opinion for
Fun House Theme Song has to be
Martin Circus - Disco Circus
Out of the 2 original releases Between the Prelude 12" and the Full side version on the LP. I know the LP was the signature version played with the little laugh at the end of the break before the dumdum break. However another moment I have in my mind is I was on the balcony looking down to the left (main floor) and Kraftwerk - Home Computer was playing at the far end of the room by the bleachers the wall was mirrored and I was completely engulfed at the moment and remember saying to my friend WOW look at how big this place is but then realized I seen a guy wearing a football jersey by the center stage then looked further down the room what happened to be the mirror I see him again I was buggin out. Id like to get to talk more with you guys maybe exchange some obscure songs used that we can share info. How about

I am so glad I found this website, it brought me back to when I was 16 and went to the funhouse for the first time in 1982. I was there every saturday, I lived in Jersey City then, so I took the PATH train to 23rd street and either cabbed it or walked to the club. It was funny, every time I walked in the club "Disco Circus" was always playing. It makes me sad that clubbing isn't what it uesed to be.....
RENT A CLUB AND LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!!!!!!!!!
can somebody reach out to JELLYBEAN & RONNIE and get their vote for FuNhOuSe theme song
Dave M.
If you went to the Funhouse with any of the people in the above pics that I sent in, then you're invited! They are:
Mark, Howie or Ann Bugger, Dean Greenbean/Stringbean, Danny Taz, Rusty, George from NJ, Timmy, Peter Freak, Darlene, Joey Do It, Theresa Tweety, Little Mary, Marie Tuna, Lisa Purple, Tina Punk Rock, Mimi, Ellen, Stacy Buckethead, Bobby MooMoo, Agueli, Joey Leto, Joey Pug, Dino, (and those who are hopefully dancing up a storm in heaven: Jimmy Dunne, Captain Kirk, Mama Jill, Christine Sizzler)
There will be a reunion in a club in the near future, hosted by Joe Monk & friends. Stay tuned!
Please don't be offended, I don't mean to sound crass, but you have to be careful, it is someone's home!
Rock on!
(Sorry to those who I didn't name!)

FuNhOuSe 4 ever
Tony, Jellybean, Randy would take the turns on the tables and drive all of us wild. Randy was the best at the lights by far, as he made them dance to the music to the point bugga’s can still see the lights as the songs play in their heads. Ricky was notorious with the videos, especially the Karate videos as well as the x-rated cartoons, like Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.
Last Saturday’s reunion was a lot of fun Danny. It brought back some great old memories and faces from the past. I’ll be looking forward to the next one. To share the music with everyone and all to appreciate what we were listening to is priceless.
Which brings me to the subject of the Fun House Theme Song,
I agree with Mark that there is more than 1 Theme Song, as there were different era’s. Here are some of my choices,
Love is the Message, Give it up, Turn it Loose, Walking on Sunshine/Sunshine Party Time, Dancing in Outerspace, Bell Head, The Mexican.

I don't know about how many you would get away with in a 77 Honda today, but we had 6 or 7 in my friend Andy's VW Rabbit back then, with all our bags with changes of clothes. It was alot of fun making those late night runs to The House. I do remember some of the names you mentioned as well.

Catch ya later, for now I'm on my Home Computer.
Thanks
I hope that might help.
Thank you for listening, I knew there were people out there somewhere.
THANKS
let me know if anyone has a copy, please!
As for the theme song, Martin Circus' "Disco Circus" wins on my list.
You couldn't control the crowd when that came on. Then, again, was there any moment you could control that crowd?
My faves include:
Harry Thuman's 'Underwater'
Tantra's 'Hills of Katmandu'
DJ's, please let me know if you have 'Games People Play'
This group is going to reincarnate at some point -- including all the artists that made that music of the era.
It was so powerful. It was so amazing. You had to live it to know what unbelievable it was.
It was the best bunch of party animals I ever had the pleasure of freaking out with in my entire life.
speak to you soon
Joe Cam.
Jocelyn Brown on lead vocals - when she was with Inner Life
Sal is at the door. He sees us and waves us to the front.
We're in.
"Here's my number and a dime. Call me, anytime!" is pumping through the speakers. The heat steams the mirror mazes as we weave through them, rushing to get in and through the crowd and make our way to our corner on the dancefloor.
Uh-oh. Madonna's in my corner. Who does she think she is, stealing our styles and calling them her own?
Whatever.
Let's dance, gang. This is my house. My Funhouse.
Mi fun casa es su fun casa.
I THINK THE SONG YOUR THINKING OF GAMES PEOPLE PLAY WAS DONE BY SWEET G
Did you wear a shirt that said underwater and danced on the main dance floor? I know that person's name I just do not want to say unless it is you. I was in the Funhouse from 82 till it closed in August 85. I guess I was part of the gen X crowd. And yes sweet g was a very smooth sounding rap with a great beat.
Marialisa
I'm not sure if I ever had a t-shirt that said underwater, though I loved that song. Funny thing is, rummaging through old knick-knacks, I just found an old funhouse flyer with 'Underwater, Harry Thuman' written on the back of it. Someone in the DJ booth (Who?) wrote it out for me when I asked them what the name of the song was. I guess the flyer marks the date.
I was there in '82. Got any pics? Post them. I may not be the morning dancer you think I am, though.
Peace.
I do not have any pictures and you raised a ? in my mind why not and the only reason i could think of is that in 82 i was really young and money was scarce for me I had to save all my lunch money for the week to get clothes to wear for Saturday at the funhouse. Ofcourse my mom had no clue it was the old i'm sleeping at so and so's house.I do have other items although i wish i had saved more guess i did not have the foresight that what was going on would have such an impact on my life.I would love to see any pictures you have, or share some memories.
Marialisa
How true that was for me, too! I was saving lunch money for the weekends! All of my other friends had allowances and were 'allowed' to go. I can't believe the risks I use to take just to make sure I was there every weeekend. I had the STRICTEST parents! Every weekend was another mission: how do I find the money and what is my escape-from-the-house plan? HAHHAHAHA
That's when I learned, where there's a will, there's a way.
HAHAHAHAH
I was always a picture buff. These days, I call myself an amateur photographer. It's a hobby that I don't have much time for, but the point is, I HAD to find money for pics, too!
I regret not taking more pics of the cool artwork on the walls, but I have some that ended up in the background accidentally.
Maybe I'll set up a little website for the handful of pics I do have -- the ones safe enough for public display, that is!
Nice chatting with you.
I got a treat for you:
check out this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LheSB3ggsHw
You'll have to copy and paste the link. If it doesn't work, go to youtube and search "New Order Confusion".
Remember this?
And by the way, I'm the one in the white dress on the subway.
I haven't downloaded it yet but I was there when they did the confusion video it was a week night if I recall, and it was sometime after the song was released. In fact I was there for most of the Hot trax recordings I can see Carlos Dejesus sitting in the clown like it was yesterday.I am going to check this out now.
Marialisa
However, I do recall 'Confusion' being taped on a weekend. Maybe I have it mixed up, but it was definitely a packed night that clubbers were out partying. People didn't show up as extras while the club was closed for a video shoot.
That's what I admired most about the producer of that video. He captured a reality in action - more like a documentary. There's nothing fake about it, including the pizzeria and the subway scene. That was where she worked, she was my friend, and that's how we use to travel to the Funhouse.
Other videos were shot there, with the club closed, like this song's:
http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/store/detail.asp?UPC=ELN80912
I never liked that song, though. The video was weak, too.
They filmed a jazz dancer 'in my corner' of the dancefloor.
As you know, everyone had a place. Whenever I meet someone who went to the Funhouse, the first question is, "So, where did you hang out?"
Everybody had a spot like their own real estate. It was their House address. LOL>
I remember feeling violated that some other dancer was using my spot on the dancefloor for that video.
I can be very territorial.
HAHAHHHAHA
Where did you hang out, marialisa?
Enjoy.

I said weeknight not weekend, it was like a Tuesday I remember being so exited an extra night at the House! I mostly hung out around the stage I always made sure I was able to sit on the stage for the shows. Loved to dance on the stage right after the show and till the morning. Unfortunately i had a friend who loved to hang out upstairs and then look for me when she got a little a lot rather, messed up. I would then have to get her a drink and sit her down somewhere but I always went back to dancin.
Marialisa
When I first started going, I was by the centerstage. Later on, I gravitated towards the dancefloor.
I needed space to SPINNNNNNNN like the records on the turntables.

I definitely wasn't there in '79.
Which do you think were the best years there?
joe cam
Who knows? Maybe we bumped into each other at the time...?? Could it be so impossible? It was crowded enough.
I never cared which clique anyone belonged to. Anytime I met someone from the Funhouse -- then and now -- and I use to get stopped ALL the time by strangers who recognized me from the House --
There was always a special bond.
We know what fun is. We can't explain why.
joe Cam
Just don't ask me what I did with it.
LOL. I probably trashed them when I was in a housecleaning mode.
I'm glad you still have one! Those were by far the best matchbook covers in the club circuit.
I would love to have a scan of that. Is that possible?
I loved those drink tickets, too! So that's your contribution, huh? Great.
I have pics to arrange and edit for display. I can't show them all. '-).
Do you have other pics?
Just this morning, I submitted a pic of artwork from one of the walls to that site.
I have a very nice one of the backstage clown. Not many people noticed the artwork on the walls. I use to.
The owners were very creative with the design and concept of that place. That's what sticks with me.
I WILL TRY AND GET THE MATCHES SCANNED ASAP.
JOEY CAM
I e-m'd that site to tell them how much I liked the front entrance pic - especially in contrast to what it looks like today.
Good ones, Joey.
My Jester should be up soon.
I checked out all those videos great stuff put them on my favs. I agree with your comment on belonging to a clique, everyone in the funhouse was good by me. I can remember years later seeing people in the underground , latin qaurter and any other club that came after and you would always recognize and be glad to see someone from the house. I have some matches also and towel and a pink cut off t shirt regretfully i had a black jacket someone borrowed it and that was it, just hope they took care of it.
Marialisa
I forgot i also have a funhouse keychain i do not have a scanner but i would love to get on the site.
Marialisa
Thankyou for bringing back some good memories!!! I am sure we all miss the FH.I also hung out at the middle stage, and had some wild times that I will never forget. I f you scroll up you will be able to read my blogs.
Lets all keep the memories of the FH alive!!! I hope to see at one of the reunions coming up
Peace!!!
We need lots of people for that. We'll wait until you get off the cruise ship -- or just keeping having reunions until you dock. 8-)
Marialisa: get someone to scan it for you. Let me know if I can help.
The following photo of the Funhouse Ladies' Powder Room was submitted by Morning Dancer.
Photo description: If you don't know Cheryl, ladies, you've never been to the Funhouse.
I think Cheryl got more complimentary smokes and drinks than anyone in the House.
You mentioned 4000 people and RunDMC. I remember that Randy taped the show without thier permission on a $2 Radio Shack cassette, then after playing it 3x a night, RunDMC approached him and asked he sell them the cassette. Since Randy & Run DMC were such good friends, he sold it back to them for $2000 and then they printed it on vinyl.
JOEY CAM
I whish I was on a cruise ship hanging out, but unfortunately I work on them in Bayonne NJ.
My season ends Nov.18th, so I will be looking forward for the next FH reunion after that date. Please keep posting more FH pics, It is giving me "Flashbacks" LOL.
Peace!!!!
i remember you and speedy, paul, jimmy and jack and the rest of your crew.this will blow you away "it's a shame to complain but we gotta have a lot more lovin"!
marialisa
Dave the Rave, those flashbacks are crazy, aren't they?
Joey Cam, I want someone very familiar with the layout of the place to look at the full pic and tell me exactly where that Jester was. I am guessing that it was by the entrance.
It was snapped in August 1982.
http://www.geocities.com/funhousedaze/Gallery.html
I'll be building this site slowly, so more pics will post eventually.
Remember the game room? I have a pic of one of the pinball machines, too -- somewhere... still digging for the buried treasure chests.
Remember running into me on Bath Ave. and telling me to find you if there was ever a reunion?
Marialisa,
Not only remember Gunsmoke Breakout, still have it and played it as early as 3 weeks ago.
IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, SEND ME AN E-MAIL WITH YOUR FIRST NAME FOR AN E-VITE TO THE PARTY I'M ARRANGING. ALSO INCLUDE HOW MANY WILL ATTEND WITH YOU.
THE CURRENT LIST ALREADY HAS 15 PEOPLE THAT WILL ATTEND AND I ONLY ANNOUNCED IT LAST WEEK AND STILL HAVEN'T SET A DATE YET.
The night Planet Patrol was there, Jellybean didn't end up spinning that night.
It was Junior Vasquez who did a guest spotlight night on that evening. I'm not sure why Jellybean didn't do it.
But I do remember that they gave away Colored Vinyl Albums, and I stored mine in the back of Junior's Records in the booth with his OK while I went back to dance. I retrieved it at the end of the night.
joey cam
I have that Purple album too, its worth something like 60 dollars.
i didnt see that you had your shirt on the site,i remember going to your house and listening to records you loved to dj that was all you would talk about. I also have gunsmoke breakout and recently listened to it, in fact i have many great albums. let me know about the the next party. you probably would remember me by just maria
joe cam
Yes, I do remember the game room.Didnt you have to walk through the game room to get to the mens bathroom?
Does anyone remember a place in Brooklyn called Romeo and Juliets? Everyone that hung out at the FH use to go there on Wednesday nights.
Keep the pictures coming the "FLASHBACKS" are getting better and better!!!
Peace!
Joe Cam, was listening to that and Worlds Famous Supreme Team last week.
No doubt.
Can't wait to see your pics.
I've got one big heart for everyone that ever danced there.
The following two photos submitted by Morning Dancer
Left Pic: What happens 'upstairs' stays upstairs.
Right Pic: If only the Fun House Jester on the wall could talk.

They never played songs like 'Romeo & Juliet' and 'Come to Me' at the Funhouse. We had a different playlist there.
And yes, the boys' room was in the game room. You don't remember?
I can never forget the girls' room. It was an event walking in there. I have no idea what went on in the boys' room, but let's just say, the party never stopped.
Chaka Khan's My Love is Alive remixes..etc..

No way. You know me, I know you -- I got pics of you (before FF) if that's really you!

I still have lots of old mixed cassettes, that I am converting to mp3's.

I use to wonder the same thing about the background buzz in Remember, too. Wasn't it in French? I haven't heard it in years. It's still on vinyl for me, and I don't have a turntable.
It use to give me that feeling like trying to grasp at a deep memory -- a feeling that prevails with muffled words that get cloudy over the years.
I'm sure it was a deliberate effect.
