I remember the Funhouse .. wow.. that place was a second home to me... you could always find me and my friend Roxanne upstairs... if you know the Funhouse you know what always went on upstairs... I think the years I went to the funhouse and collected my ballons and stuff at the end of the night... that was the best time of my life.

i went to funhouse every saturday night for 2 years and it was the best of times. i loved that place and i will never forget the great times with my friends. i only wish i could find some of them!

My weekends were spent at the Funhouse and what memorable weekends they were...I'll never forget when Arthur Baker came in with the master for IOU which Jellybean had just remixed and the club exploded!

I used to go to the Funhouse all the time. Saturdays before 11pm the girls were free and didn't have to pay the 20 bucks, which was a lot for a club back then. I even remember Frankie Avalon there and the big transvestite Devine singing SAtep by Step. I would love to see pictures. I am proabably in one because I was a regular with all my girls from the Bronx. I used to meet so many Brooklyn guys. Sal Sex Machine was one of the regulars from Brooklyn. w/b if you have info! Sue

Ted Currier at the Funhouse? Had no idea. Loved the mixes that he did on the old Disco 92 back in the day. What were Currier's, Benitez's and Fearing's playlists at the FunHouse like?

Also, what was the appeal of the Funhouse for everyone?

Weird time... punk was dying.. commercial disco was all but dead..this was from the late 70's till 81 (when i was hanging there) the appeal was a sense of anything went..by 80 & 81 the crowd was changing..the crowd i ran with were no younger than 20 & now older than 25 or so.some of us were casualities of the rampant drug culture & other's got out before they did the same..the playlist's varied slightly as each dj passed on what the regular's liked..anything from peter brown to the stones. personally jon was my fave , but ted represented the period when the ORIGINAL BUGGER'S came into prominence

I would take the train every week from Coney Island Back & Forth. I used to walk through 23rd street buildings to stay warm just to get The Funhouse Fix!
Madonna was going out with Jellybean in the early 80's and was there in the booth lounge all the time.

and i even remember a tiny little girl perform there and that little girl was "Little Suzy" she must have been 7 or 8 at the time.

"That's my Clown interpretation" Anyway The Fun House was my life, I'mfrom Jersey and I remember one day my friends and I were invited to this party, it was Saturday night and the party was boring so we said we're going to the Fun House and we were broke. We didn't have the $12 needed to get in at FH. So we started to accept donations and collected the $12 to get in. With hardly any gas we made it and like always we had a terrific time at Da FH. We've stay there all night dancing to MARTIN CIRCUS, JINGO, SPANK, SEX MACHINE, doing our Kick Dance in our baseball pants, white sox and chinese shoes. I remember Madona dancing with us. "she was jellybean's girlfriend at the time, how do think she got some of those moves " I remember this guy named Lenny from Nuttly who would go "Off" when Spank satarted to play" that was our theme song" I also remember the Smurf dance that everyone would dance to PLANET ROCK. Anyway I so glad to reminisce about those glorious nights. by the way my name is Eddie and my best friends were Freddy,Mark,Dave,John we called ourselves The Cugenes from Donwneck Newark.

Yes, it was $12 to get in. Ladies free before 11pm. Still the best club ever. Jonathan Fearing was the greatest DJ. Club opened March 30, 1979. JellyBean took over I think in 1980 after he left Electric Circus. I went every Saturday until 1981. Come Hell or High water - I was there.

Oh boy do I remember Todd and Lenny. We were from the bronx and I know we hung out with you guys often. My friends were Lisa, Nancy Theresa, Margaret and me Susan. I think Todd dated one of my friends.....

Lenny is a cop in Las Vegas.Todd has his own contracting buisiness in Jersey.We still keep in touch and we all still miss THE FUNHOUSE.Nice to see someone is still around to GO BACK IN TIME WITH.

ok mjcastr - who are u? Do you have any pics??? I remember Lenny wearing these Chinese outfits all the time. But the funniest is that my friend mragaret has pictures of the funhouse and I was hysterical because all the guys dancing had no shirts on. Everyone nowadays does not take their shirt off if they are hot when dancing, so the pics are so hilarious. Unfortunately my friend passed away, so I have no access to the pics anymore. I am dying to see some again.

The good old days, Lime on stage, D-Train, Soul Sonic Force, Frances Joli. We hung on the middle stage on one side all from Brooklyn the other side the beautiful girls from Yonkers. I remember Duffy never stoped dancing and Nic-Nak never started dancing. The Long Isle Iced Teas were flowing. Remember one Thanksgiving Lupio grabbed the live turkey well it was alive, lol. Fun Fun FunHouse. Lets not forget we loved Angelo outside in the Frank-cart.

The Funhouse rocked. I went there every Saturday me and my whole Canarsie crew. The best place i ever went.

wow, I cant belive I this blog(if you will) by chance. I was seaching for any web sites relating to clubs from back in the day. My clubbing days started when I was 16(they rarly checked for ids),at "The Fun House". My crew was from Queens.I remember that first night(saturday)I went there I was blow away on how everyone took their dancing skills so seriously, and how easy it was to get every drug under the sun , as soon as you walked in(in the open)mesklien was my fav. But besides that, eventhought everyone had their click or goup,(Italians,hispanics,gays,blacks,whatever you were) the fact everyone was brought together by the vibe,dancing and the Music.My friends and I went every weekend by train(which sucked). I remember the song "confusion" by new order and their music video showed some girl who worked a brooklyn pizza shop,who ended up going out that night to the Fun House.

How can one explain the Fun House in words. It was a Place in time,that cannot ever be created again.There were other great clubs duing that time,but none of them could hold a candle to the F. HOUSE. Songs that blew my mind there,

Randy is s very good friend of mine. He is currently a golf pro in New Mexico. He actually was the guy who pressed the record button when RUN DMC did Here We Go. There would not be that record if Randy didn't record it that night!

The FunHouse was the best! My friends and I went there every weekend. Loved seeing all the live acts and hearing Jellybean spin. We were from Ozone Park and stayed mostly near the center stage. What great times....wish I could go back

Wow!!! I cannot believe what I had read ... My cousin Joey Monk use to own The Funhouse ... I was going there when I was 8,9 & 10 with my mother & father as they were still young & wanted to hangout ... Then I use to go when I was 12, 13 & 14 with a few friends which was the last years right before The Funhouse closed where it then became Hearthrobs ... My cousin is actually thinking about re-opening The Funhouse with my father ... Everyone is just curious if it would succeed ... Do you still think there are enough people out there that would come to make this place kickin' like it was before ... I do not care what anybody says, but my cousin's place was the most known club to ever stand in NYC ... f*** Studio 54 & The Paradise Garage ... The Funhouse made more people than anyone in the world ... People would have to pay to play & that is exactly what most artists had to do ... If it wasnt for my cousin, Madonna wouldnt even exsist ... My other cousin also owned Electric Circus where Jellybean first started ... The Funhouse will LIVE forever & ever ... And her cousin was the bouncer at the door who looked like the indian ....... The big monster Jonny Moe she still talkes to him every day and joe do you have a copy of the Confusion video i am from Ave u the west side but i never was at Fun House allways on ave U or 86st .

I knew Joe Monk well, a couple of years after The Funhouse I ended up working with him at The Cabaret on 86st (Formerly Plaza Suite) he was manager there I was the DJ there the place was owned by Mikey C & Ceazar. I also used to DJ at West street Lounge on West st. & Ave U (accross from the post office). Known at the time as Steve Fish. Also grew up in the Funhouse as well listening to Jellybean is what really inspired me to DJ myself.

What can I say Im a Funhouse Bugger from 83-85 started going when i was 15 years old. Angelo was the head bouncer and ronnie was the owner at the time. Johnny Moe was another bouncer. hung out at the center stage with the OZ Crew and upstairs when it was time to get nice..lol You will NEVER and I mean NEVER find a club that played the music that the Fun House played. I was a die hard and stayed until closing, which was around 830 in the morning. Was the Best time of my life and wont ever forget all the times I had there. Many stories to tell and would love a reunion, meaning you would have to be at least 34 or older..lol All the best

Rockin' da house on Saturday night was the place to be. That is really back in the day, riding the diesel train. I had my best times at the house but praise god they are over.

Da' house was the place to be on Saturday night in the early eighties. Theres never been or will there ever be any music that can compare to the tracks and mixes they played in the day Sex Machine, Just Begun, Spank. Where can one begin , the Fun House will always live on theres never been another club like it since im from Sheepshead Bay me and my crew use to go alot on Sat nights a friend named Joey Indart use to paint a big mural of the Fun House clown on the wall on e23rd st and Ave U most recently i stumbled on a video of New York Hot Tracks live at the Fun House with host Carlos Dejesus what a memory i have recently compiled all the music from the house like Stone Fox Chase, Key West, Soul Makossa etc to bad i cant share some of the music good times and memories, does anybody know if the Fun House clown is still preserved on 23rd and U??

Damn, the Funhouse was the club I first went to and there after until the name was changed to Heart Throb, then I stop going, but shortly after, they renamed it back to the Funhouse and the damaged was done, fewer people attended the Funhouse. Favorite song or mixed song at the Funhouse, Set It Off by Strafe. Favorite DJ, Little Louie Vega.

I started going to the Fun House after the club Infinity burned down were Jim Burgess was the DJ and then became the first DJ at the Fun House on opening night March 30, 1979 after him came Jonathan Fearing who also worked at the radio station WKTU. They both were great DJ's and have both passed away. Some of my favorite songs were and still are Risky Changes, At Midnight, Crank It Up, I'm A Man, The Hills of Katmandu, Relight My Fire, The Break, Sing Sing Sing, If You Could Read My Mind, Souvenirs, Can't Slow Down, Dance Fantasy, I can go on and on. Some of the friends that I used to go with were Andrew, Larry, Alfred, Miles, Rusty, Mike, Margaret, Karen, Mark, Joey Do-it and Howie.
Mark and Joey Do-it used to work at the Fun House during the week in the day cleaning up the club, and I sometimes would stop by during my lunch break form work and we would hang out. Sill keep in touch with Andrew, Larry but have lost contact with very one else. It was nice to find this site and reminisce.

That is what me & my friends use to sing. The FunHouse was the best club I have ever been to in my life. The music, the people, the drugs....................... what can I say.
We us to hang out by the middle stage with all of the Lefferts Blvd. people from Ozone Park. I owned every color satin jacket, & many tank tops. I wish I still had one to ware. I was even crazy enough to paint the FunHous logo on my bedroom wall. I am now living in Las Vegas. I have to say I love it her but those were the days. I do enjoy going to Studio 54 here in Vegas but nothing will ever compare to the FunHouse.

I would also like to add that going to the Funhouse would not have been the same without taking the A train from Liberty Ave. & Lefferts or Crossbay Blvd. Duncan Donuts never looked so good after a long night.
If you were a true Funhouse goer, you will remember watching the cartoon porn that came on towards the end of the night. Wow, I had to be 15/16 when I started going there. I am happy to say the drugs were just a faze at that time in my life.

Wow, This feels like a family reunion. Yes the Funhouse was great! How many people could we fit into my little 77 Honda Civic? No matter how crowded it was in my car, it beat walking through the projects to take the train home. Some of the memories are kind of fuzzy. Can't imagine why!!! LOL! But of course some of my greatest memories there involved Tina, Lee Botz (see above) Gary, and the rest of the Lefferts crew. OZ Rocks the house! The Fun House was one of the best clubs in the world next to the Limelight NYC.

I remember Full Force and Lisa lisa and cult jam where there. I was so young, We used to sneak out of our houses at night and take the L train on Rockaway Parkway..in canarsie to the city wearing our midrif funhouse shirts, shoelace around the forehead, joggin pants with iron on's of letters on the back of the joggin pants and down the legs. Like on the back you would get "spank" or "action78", down the legs u get "its just begun" and the other leg "walking on sunshine" or "rockers revenge".

Not too many people know about the funhouse. Good too see some of you are still around :)

Limelight?? pulllease!! Limelight couldn't even touch what Funhouse did, especially after Infinity had burned down on Valentine's Day! Nothing will ever compare to the dance music that was out in those days! to think there were clubs within a block or 2 of each other, yet they were all packed on the weekends! example:Bond's being literally right around the corner from Xenon! Les Mouche around the corner from Funhouse! god those were the days, just wayyyyyyy to many enhancers in those days, if you all know what i mean. Fyi, i am still in contact with Jellybean & he's having his birthday party this friday coming. He plays mostly house music now but still finds a way to drop in an oldie or 2 throughout the night! got the word out & lets keep this thing goin'. Hi everybody! Remember me, Marie (Tuna). (I used to hang with Lisa Purple). I grew up at the Fun House. Every Friday & Saturday night for 3 years straight from 16-19 yrs old. I loved Jonathan, Ted Currier & Jellybean! They were the best! Had THE wildest times of my life at (and after) the Fun House. We'd get there around 10pm & stay till the lights went on. We danced all night long. We drank water from the fountain and I used to "mouth out" with the frozen slushys in the back. I remember all the bouncers and owners. When I first started going, I would dance on the middle stage. Pink or black tight spandex pants, shaking & gyrating my a** on the stage. After a time, we met some of the Buggers and started dancing on the back stage. I started dressing more punk rock and we would change our wet clothes in every few hours. After a year, all the buggers started dancing in front of the dj booth. We were all in our own worlds, but damn it was fun!!! Sometimes we went to Criscos with Ronnie afterward. Sometimes, we'd hit a diner. Always there were a bunch people who came home to my house, slept till 3 & then my Mom would feed us all macoroni & meatballs. Sunday was lounge day. My birthday cakes always had a fun house clown on them. I miss Theresa Tweety. I'm still good friends with Lisa Purple. I have 2 beautiful daughters both in gifted programs (Whew!). Thanks for the memories!!!

Remember the first time I went to the Fun House I had to leave in 30 mins I was bugging so Bad (Pre Jellybean) Hungout with the Ave U boys from Marine Park. John D, Vinny L, Eddie L, Andrew S, Oggie. Always hung out upstairs or on the dancefloor Stage by the arcade. Once went in with a small tape player to record JellyBeans Music.

The first time I went to the Funhouse, it was my brithday and I was all decked out in my Izod Polo shirt with my colored Lee jeans. Was very excited and by chance I saw Madonna perform "Holiday". Man, did she look good back then.

IM Robin i used to work behind the bar in the funhouse and i hung out with a chineese girl names karen (china doll) my nick name was (Robinster) IM STILL VERY GOOD FREINDS WITH JOE MONK JERRY AND VINNY THE OWNERS !!! Jonny moe the big indian guy went to jail, and i heard he got very ill, thats the last i heard og him, but the owners and gay Ronnie i heard is doing well, thanks Robin 80S STILL rock !!!

Nice to see Tina Punk Rock & THE gyrating Tuna made it here! OMG, ROBINNNNN!!! Mark-Bugger here! I went there religiously & actually worked there the last dying years at Funhouse with Joey-Do it! And BTW Bernie, you need to add an awesome DJ that worked between Jonathan & Jellybean. Ted Currier!! A great mixer but found us "buggers" a little different then the "normal" club crowd! LOL

WOW... I remember those days.. I was part of the juice crew and Rockers revenge. We owned the back stage where we battle anyone who tried to take our stage. Remember Chino, Bryant, New York city breakers. Sammy who used to worked for Angelo in his hotdog truck, Rat from jersey .I remember I stayed in his basement the whole winter and we used to go the Jersey clubs and battle anyone!!!. What a time that was. Ball Busters for life!!!!

I was the tall Puertorican kid upstairs with the big rope chain serving everything you wanted.

I used run to the dance floor everytime sex machine used to come on to uprock with anybody that wanted to battle.

The Fun House will forever be the place where you did whatever you wanted. No club cant compare to those dayz!!!!

I can't believe this either. I remember so many of you. I just out of the blue searched The Fun House and bam. I was one of the originals and spent every Saturday nite at the place for over 3 years. I remember spinning around the center stage in the cut off T-shirts dancing non stop for hours. Some many of these posts brought back so many memories. It all started coming back. When I read some of the names I started remembering who they were. We had great times and memories. The raves and stuff they have today cannot compare to how we partied. Nobody partied harder than us....not then, not now. We will all have that distinction.

I really love reading these posts they bring back more and more memories and it was such a happy time in my life !!!
I have kids now and to tell you the truth i dont think i would allow them to hang out in a place like the funhouse, not that it was bad but (it was great ) BUT when you becaome a mom your so over protective !!! But do i have some great stories to tell them !!!! My sons only 4 now so he wouldnt quite understand but when hes older hes gonna be in shock !!! The Fun House had to be where the saying anything goes was originated. You had to be a part of it to understand. I remember gettin' there a 10/11pm & leaving @ 7/8am. The things that went on between those hrs.

Center stage wuz the place ,,,there is where you found a mix of oz,rosedale,brooklyn & jersey ,,,im sure you all remember who rocked the house though,,anyway keep the reminders coming,,, fir obvious reasons we may need a lil help remembering.

Hello to all my old Fun House friends. Glad many of you seem to be doing well. Mark Bugger....how are you??? Howie I remember you as well. And Robin....I think you were the beautiful blonde bar tender that worked the middle area of the bar near where they sold those tickets. I started my Saturday nites checking in with you for my Alabama Slammer or Iced Tea. I remember Dean's van and winding up at Marine Park or Manhatten Beach. Wow was that one nite or two. So hazy now. Sorry to hear about Jill. She used to call me Baby Bugger so maybe some of you will remember me. Joey Do It, where are you? This site isn't complete without you. Jimmy Whitestone or Bowling shoes...Joe Monk, Gerry, Ronnie, glad you are all seemingly doing well. Tina Punk Rock and gyrating Tuna too.I am all in for the reunion. Great times and memories. I used to have some old photos from one Halloween when Ronnie was "all dressed up" and I think it was Sylvester who played. Lots of the original buggers were in them. Before I fell in with the Fun House Buggers, I was shaking & gyrating on the middle stage with Lisa Purple. There was a guy standing down on the ground wearing a black t-shirt that said... "Shake for me girl" (of course the back said "I wanna be your backdoor man" but that part wasn't the lure). I knew he wore that shirt to attract my attention. Of course, schmuck that I was, I went for the bait. I started seeing him. I was already seeing someone I was totally into, a GORGEOUS guy named Kenny. Tshirt guy found out who he was, saw him at Fun House and beat the s*** out of him. I dumped Tshirt guy & Kenny dumped me. I always wondered about Kenny. HE WAS THE ONE WHO GAVE ME THE TUNA FISH TSHIRT THAT GAVE ME MY NAME. I know he never knew that. (I used to ask every guy I dated to give me one of their Tshirts.) The irony of it all!

I can't believe I found this site looking for Frances Joli! I wanted to see if she is still performing. What great memories of the Fun House. My dad painted the place for Joe Monk. Spent a lot of time at the FUNHOUSE, hangin' in the DJ booth with Ted Currier. Ya know what the "big hit" on the FUNHOUSE dancefloor was at that time, don't ya?.... It was "BEAT THE CLOCK" by SPARKS. That was the track that got everyone dancin' in madness... Those were some good times fer sure, baby!

This site rocks! Robert Famous Camus here, there will never ever be another Funhouse. I still DJ to this day doing clubs and parties because of how the Funhouse had an impact on me. The best train ride was the LL from Canarsie to 14th. street. The worst was coming home with no money, jumping the turnstyle and getting caught like once a month. The roach clip feathers hanging from my sweatpants, my cut off Funhouse shirt, showing my stomach for all the girls to see! (I couldn't do that now) Jellybean dropping in has soundbite.....JJJJJJJJJJJellybean over the music, I think Paco from KTU did it for him.
Imagine a song like Stone Fox Chase today! They would have to have 50 Cent and Funkmaster Flex come into the studio and do a remix - how tragic would that be!!!!!! We never stopped dancing. Ever!!

Everything is about Studio 54, because the "stars" went there to be seen. But the real stars, the real energy was created by the faithful, all of us. And if you are reading this you were one of the faithful. When the Funhouse lost their liquor licence, it diddnt matter. The club was packed. See if that happens today, I dont think so. All that mattered was being there. We all looked the same, dressed the same. Some people got high, some of us just danced for hours. It diddnt matter there was no trouble, no attitude at the door, no nonsense like today. We were just hanging out, being ourselves. We were the Funhouse Buggers. Where has the time gone? I've been for years thinking about a reunion, somewhere in Manhattan. If is sounds like a cool idea, or if you remember the Canarsie Crew...

Does anyone remember the time, I think it was 1983 or 84 and the NYC police swat teams came in and raided the place? The house supposedly didnt have a liquor license or some crap but it was nuts. Muscis stopped it was chaos! It closed for a week and reopened w/o liquor. I remember buying a virgin melon ball. Oh man where did the yrs go?

Thanks for posting the pics. They brought back great memories. Since finding this site I have started bugging again in the car when the right tune comes on the satellite disco classic station. Crank it up came on the other morning and I almost had to put it in park and get out. Good thing I never out grew the tinted window thing. I know my buggers will inderstand.

I think legally the club held 1500 though on some nights there were probably a few more!! LOL Sorry for not getting back sooner but I've been kinda busy trying to buy a place. George I spoke to Buggy. And I still speak to Joey Do-it, Julie, Rusty & am still in contact with Jellybean. And as far as a Funhouse song it would have to be a song from the Jonathan Fearing era. I'm thinking along the lines of not only the music but what was going on there so for me it would be one of these 3:

I don't know the song "HIP HOP BE BOP". I went to the Funhouse EVERY Friday & Saturday from 1978-1981. Jonathan was the DJ when I started, Ted Currier followed him, then Jellybean came in. Mark & them went a bit longer than me. It could be we were there during different years (& that we're from different generations. I'm the last of the baby boomers and you're probably Generation X).

Hey Marie Tuna!! How the hell are you?! I still talk to a few buggers (too few). I MISS YOU ALL AND THE TIMES WE HAD!!! Since I've been on the FuNhOuSe site(thanks to Julie), she gave Mark Bugger my number. It has brought back so many great memories ( and I mean great) that I have never forgotten in 25 years and I will never ever forget until the day I die. They were the best days of our lives. Miss seeing your smiling face. Had some updates about you over the years from Danny and Tina, would love to see ya when u get to Bklyn. Looks like none of us are making this reunion after all. Maybe, if we postpone it, more people will get the word about it ( I only have known for the past 5 days). I spoke with Ronnie last night and I have talked him into coming.( now that it is canceled , go figure) Sh-t if we were not embarrassed of what we used to do, why the hell be embarrassed of what we are doing now!!!

As for me, I am married 18 years and have a 16 year old son starting college in 1 more year. Crap, he is just a year younger than I was when I started going out to the FunHouse. NO WAY am I letting him out of my eyesite!! LOLOL Nah, he is a great kid and a straight A student. Guess I didn't kill all my brain cells, whatever was left went to him! hahaha.
Heard about your accident. Don't know the details, but I am hoping that you are feeling better. As for me, I am half the time in a wheelchair and the other half with a cane. Seems that at 41 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Living with it for 4 years now and still loose my mind when the music takes me back! AHHHH when I hear the music....G-D gives me my legs back for a bit and off I go.........

The reunion was GREAT!!! My husband had to carry me from the car to the house. Muscles I haven't used in 20 years are screaming " what did you do b****". Found this site a long time ago, wasn't much here but a few posts. Glad to see it grow and continue. I was and always will be a Jellybean fan. From his beginning playing parties at Lehman College in the Bronx and all the clubs till now. Was there for the raids, boy I miss the mellon balls. I am so glad I found this website, it brought me back to when I was 16 and went to the funhouse for the first time in 1982. I was there every saturday, I lived in Jersey City then, so I took the PATH train to 23rd street and either cabbed it or walked to the club. It was funny, every time I walked in the club "Disco Circus" was always playing. It makes me sad that clubbing isn't what it uesed to be.....

My God, just found this site! I was blown away. Remember Madonna performing on stage, known only as JellyBean's girlfriend. Planet Rock, Native Love, AEIOU, etc... Me and the rest of the Funhouse Kickdancers battling for dance space on the floor near the stage against the Poppers, Breakdancers, Lofters, etc... It was me (Dancing Dave), Frankie Blue, Eugene, and who can forget Joey Comet...Al dressed in black sweats with Old English lettering on the sides, white socks, chinese sandals, headbands, etc... Oh and don't forget all my "Druggie" friends doing shotguns upstairs above us. You know Brooklyn Rocked to the Planet Rock back then!

Another great time at the 2nd Funhouse reunion!! Danny & Roe once again a tremendous job of hosting it. A concensus was taken at the reunion & as far as Funhouse theme songs go, there most definitely needs to be 2 categories:Pre-Jellybean & Jellybean. Most of us at the reunion were going to Funhouse religiously BEFORE Jellybean became the resident DJ. So we need to make that list in 2 parts. That is why there is a big difference in songs being chosen as the "Funhouse Theme Song".

Let’s see, where do I start....Many moons ago I started going to the Fun House. At first I would just go to hear the music and dance my a** off. As time passed, I made very good friends with most everyone of the guys in the booth, Tony, Jellybean, Randy, and Ricky.

Tony, Jellybean, Randy would take the turns on the tables and drive all of us wild. Randy was the best at the lights by far, as he made them dance to the music to the point bugga’s can still see the lights as the songs play in their heads. Ricky was notorious with the videos, especially the Karate videos as well as the x-rated cartoons, like Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Last Saturday’s reunion was a lot of fun Danny. It brought back some great old memories and faces from the past. I’ll be looking forward to the next one. To share the music with everyone and all to appreciate what we were listening to is priceless.

Which brings me to the subject of the Fun House Theme Song,
I agree with Mark that there is more than 1 Theme Song, as there were different era’s. Here are some of my choices,

I lived in Cobble Hill Brooklyn. I hung out with the cobble Hill, Carrol Gardens crowd. Those days were the best. I would die if I couldn't get there on any given Saturday. I went there every Saturday from 81-82. The music was the best. What I loved most was when they would turn off the music and close down only to turn on the lights, music and club all over again an hour later. It would be 5 in the morning and the club would begin again at 6 after everyone cleared out. I have great memories from back then. I grew up there in every way imaginable....hell, who didn't?

I don't know about how many you would get away with in a 77 Honda today, but we had 6 or 7 in my friend Andy's VW Rabbit back then, with all our bags with changes of clothes. It was alot of fun making those late night runs to The House. I do remember some of the names you mentioned as well.

The Funhouse.....What can I say, we lived there from 81-85 when the NYC residents petitioned to have the club closed down. I guess all of us walking through the buildings to get to the train didn't help. However, in all my days of dancing and club going there will never be a place as good as the Funhouse. Me, Lorraine, Christine, Fran, Vicky, Ronnie, Jimmy from the Bay, Frankie Blue, Steve Skates, Lil Dina, Jimmy C, Marina, Gina & Lisa from S.I., Marlena, Louis & Anthony, Looney, Rob OZ, and wacky Denise too! All we knew is that we "gotta gotta get there". We didn't just hang, we danced our asses off till 8:30 the next day and if I might say, we rocked the house. Johhny Moe and Allie D were two of the coolest boucers I have ever met. We were a family! Jellybean, Tony Smith, Randy & Ricky....the best foursome ever combined. Ahhhh, and my main man Ronnie or shall I say my main gal pal. He looked out for me the most, I'll never forget sitting upfront with him at the entrance collecting passes, he either loved ya or not. I am so glad he loved me. I would die to see him again. I seen the reunion pics above with him in them, how times change, he isn't as flamboyant and he once was. But neither am I. I am happily married now with 3 beautiful kids and life now has different priorities. But, I would help arrange a reunion if it came to be. Advertising is the way to get the word out, radio (Paco & Joe Causi), ads, flyers etc. If there is a big response we could make it fly. I'm sure Joe Monk, Jerry, Angelo and Ronnie would get on board. Hey does anyone remember the Funhouse towels...My idea...Since lots of us used to head to Manhattan beach with our shirts I told Angelo the towels would be a hit. I still have my shirt and towel :) My best friend is still Lorraine and she has many pics of us at the Funhouse we'll try to upload them real soon!

A FH towel? Wow! They didn't have those when we went (78-81)! Sure, give the new wave of Buggers towels. We'll remember that Monk! LOL

WOW!!! I am blown away by reading all the stories and the MEMORIES this site has brought back. I was 15-17 yrs old and took the path into Manhattan to make sure we got there before 11 to get in free and not leaving until 8 in the morning. We hung out at the center stage watching Louie & Anthony dance for hours. I remember one Easter morning when the lights went on Louie was yelling HAPPY EASTA JELLY BEAN - to this day me and my sister still say that to each other. Lee Botz - I remember you - you used to date my friend Theresa from Newark. My sister Mary Ann has some pictures - we will post them. I have a pic of me & my husband at the fun house on my refrig. The Fun House was a time in my life that I will NEVER forget. Thanks for the memories!!

Did you wear a shirt that said underwater and danced on the main dance floor? I know that person's name I just do not want to say unless it is you. I was in the Funhouse from 82 till it closed in August 85. I guess I was part of the gen X crowd. And yes sweet g was a very smooth sounding rap with a great beat.

I'm not sure if I ever had a t-shirt that said underwater, though I loved that song. Funny thing is, rummaging through old knick-knacks, I just found an old funhouse flyer with 'Underwater, Harry Thuman' written on the back of it. Someone in the DJ booth (Who?) wrote it out for me when I asked them what the name of the song was. I guess the flyer marks the date.

I was there in '82. Got any pics? Post them. I may not be the morning dancer you think I am, though.

I do not have any pictures and you raised a ? in my mind why not and the only reason i could think of is that in 82 i was really young and money was scarce for me I had to save all my lunch money for the week to get clothes to wear for Saturday at the funhouse. Ofcourse my mom had no clue it was the old i'm sleeping at so and so's house.I do have other items although i wish i had saved more guess i did not have the foresight that what was going on would have such an impact on my life.I would love to see any pictures you have, or share some memories.

How true that was for me, too! I was saving lunch money for the weekends! All of my other friends had allowances and were 'allowed' to go. I can't believe the risks I use to take just to make sure I was there every weeekend. I had the STRICTEST parents! Every weekend was another mission: how do I find the money and what is my escape-from-the-house plan? HAHHAHAHA

That's when I learned, where there's a will, there's a way.

I was always a picture buff. These days, I call myself an amateur photographer. It's a hobby that I don't have much time for, but the point is, I HAD to find money for pics, too!

I regret not taking more pics of the cool artwork on the walls, but I have some that ended up in the background accidentally.

I haven't downloaded it yet but I was there when they did the confusion video it was a week night if I recall, and it was sometime after the song was released. In fact I was there for most of the Hot trax recordings I can see Carlos Dejesus sitting in the clown like it was yesterday.I am going to check this out now.

Yes, Hot Tracks! Groundbreaking. The first time music videos aired on a major network. 'Confusion' was there!

However, I do recall 'Confusion' being taped on a weekend. Maybe I have it mixed up, but it was definitely a packed night that clubbers were out partying. People didn't show up as extras while the club was closed for a video shoot.

That's what I admired most about the producer of that video. He captured a reality in action - more like a documentary. There's nothing fake about it, including the pizzeria and the subway scene. That was where she worked, she was my friend, and that's how we use to travel to the Funhouse.

I said weeknight not weekend, it was like a Tuesday I remember being so exited an extra night at the House! I mostly hung out around the stage I always made sure I was able to sit on the stage for the shows. Loved to dance on the stage right after the show and till the morning. Unfortunately i had a friend who loved to hang out upstairs and then look for me when she got a little a lot rather, messed up. I would then have to get her a drink and sit her down somewhere but I always went back to dancin.

Jellybean Era. Jonathan Fearing played some great stuff too. My friends and I were from Canarsie, we stayed at the middle stage on the side where you get the drink tickets.

I never cared which clique anyone belonged to. Anytime I met someone from the Funhouse -- then and now -- and I use to get stopped ALL the time by strangers who recognized me from the House --

There was always a special bond.

We know what fun is. We can't explain why.

I told that site owner I would be looking for FH matches! I use to have a matchbook collection -- from all the different clubs I use to go to. It was actually a very nice collection.

Just don't ask me what I did with it.

LOL. I probably trashed them when I was in a housecleaning mode.

I checked out all those videos great stuff put them on my favs. I agree with your comment on belonging to a clique, everyone in the funhouse was good by me. I can remember years later seeing people in the underground , latin qaurter and any other club that came after and you would always recognize and be glad to see someone from the house. I have some matches also and towel and a pink cut off t shirt regretfully i had a black jacket someone borrowed it and that was it, just hope they took care of it.

You mentioned 4000 people and RunDMC. I remember that Randy taped the show without thier permission on a $2 Radio Shack cassette, then after playing it 3x a night, RunDMC approached him and asked he sell them the cassette. Since Randy & Run DMC were such good friends, he sold it back to them for $2000 and then they printed it on vinyl.

The night Planet Patrol was there, Jellybean didn't end up spinning that night.

It was Junior Vasquez who did a guest spotlight night on that evening. I'm not sure why Jellybean didn't do it.

But I do remember that they gave away Colored Vinyl Albums, and I stored mine in the back of Junior's Records in the booth with his OK while I went back to dance. I retrieved it at the end of the night.

My name is Nicholas, this is great reading all these stories about the Funhouse. I danced I with my friends Romeo,Armando,Jose,Rio,& Dana plus our girlfriends at the time.We were by the middle stage were the dance floor started.Romeo to this day says the Funhouse was the BEST club of all time and I agree with him.We danced all different styles of dance loft-kickdancing-uprock-poplock-B-boying. The best dancers from N.Y.& N.J. hung out at the Funhouse and I learned from watching them.We also did 2 man helicopters and 3 man. I used to pick Romeo up and put him on my head and spin so fast that Romeo called it flying.I remember watching Lenny and Todd on the other side of the stage doing there thing and you can't forget the b-boys at back stage like Chino from Incredible Breakers and the Dynamic Rockers what battles I had the plesure of watching.This place had it all the best DJ JELLYBEAN, the music,the lightshow, the SHOWS "OH MY GOD THE SHOWS"!!!there are so many artist who performed there it will take me to long to list.the people themselves, the energy was crazy. And it was a Phenomenon in it's time. Thanks JOE for giving us the Funhouse.I will email again with some great stories and pictures. Thanks again for the memories. I use to wonder the same thing about the background buzz in Remember, too. Wasn't it in French? I haven't heard it in years. It's still on vinyl for me, and I don't have a turntable.

It use to give me that feeling like trying to grasp at a deep memory -- a feeling that prevails with muffled words that get cloudy over the years.

I'm sure it was a deliberate effect.

Wow, talk about stumbling on to a page that stirs up memories!! One person above asked if anyone remembered Bobby Anderson from OZ park. That's me, but I was from the Bronx. We just hung out and ventured out to chill with people from OZ, Brooklyn, Jersey, etc. I hung out at the middle stage and was one of the first to start the kick dancing craze. We were all into martial arts at the time. In fact, one day I slept over my friend Johnny Spaceman's house and had no sneakers since we went out to a dress up club the night before. I had to borrow his chinese slippers so I could dance right, next thing I know the following week everyones wearing chinese slippers and kung fu pants.. Those were the days. My crew was Ronnie Bam Bam from Jersey, Frankie Scooter (BX), Johhny Space (Bx), Bobby Bones (Bx), (the whole Allerton Avenue, Pelham Pkwy, Arthur Avenue, Morris Park crew combined). I was good friends with people from all over like Sal sex machine (brooklyn), we made circles and battled with Lenny and Todd, etc from jersey. The OZ boys hung out; joey Gallo, Nicky L., Sal Bianchi from Canarsie. I miss those days like crazy. Me and Ronnie bam bam hung at the front desk with Ronnie B. alot. I danced in two videos from the Funhouse. I was in "Confusion" by New Order throwing spinning kicks and also did the Planet Patrol video filmed there " didnt know I loved you till I saw you rock and roll". That was one song that bombed :). Anyway, thanks for bringing back some good time. Peace...

I also had some good friends who were lost to dust one would smoke with anyone anywhere she really didnt care as long as she was high. She was kinda funny though she would change songs like Just Begun to Dust Begun. But she did ruin many nights for me with her addiction. Things really got bad for her last she was in jail, a real shame.

To all the Funhouse members,

Technically this page has maxed out and is starting to affect the server and response times. As everyone can see this page can no longer handle all the posts / photos and takes a while to load.

I think I have found a solution that will allow this FunHouse page to remain active and open to new postings. Instead of the one long page, which kept getting longer, it is now split into multiple pages so in order to view the newest comments you'll need to keep clicking on the Next >>> link at the bottom of each page. I know it's not perfect, but it's better than closing the whole page down to all posting. Hope this helps.

The Funhouse rocks.......forever!

Wow, Funhouse was my home on the weekend I would go with my sister and we'd dance all nite. Not only that we had several outfit changes as the nite went along and don't forget the milk and cookies in the wee hours of the morning. We would leave at 6 when they closed and have breakfast up the block at the diner. WOW those were the days.

Wow there was nothing like going in and leaving with the music still inside you. Having the milk and cookies for the second wind was awesome.

What a small world. I found out about this site on this Thanksgiving. A friend's niece from Funhouse printed out the picture of me, Gina and some other girl in front of Funhouse and told me about the reunions and this website. I cannot believe I never thought Funhouse had a website. I saw the pictures of you, Danny, and Anthony (aka "Rat"). Wow! What a blast from the past. I am sorry I do not have the time now to chat some more but, we definately have to get together to play catch up on things and people.

Wow, I can't believe I found this posting. I use to work at the FunHouse when I was 15 yrs old passing out flyers and cleaning up when we closed down at 9:00 am! I remember Madonna put my head under her skirt and told me to stop being a pervert during the middle of her act while I was sitting on the outside of the stage. I was 15 years old, 120 lbs soaking wet and man was I embarassed!

They were great times! I wish I knew about the reunion I would have flown in from L.A. just to be with the old gang.

I can remember taking the PATH train on Saturday night from NJ. Walking up the block on W 23rd st you could hear the thumping of the base coming from "New York's #1 proven sound system" (That's what the flyers say.) I have several of them in great shape I might add some 20 years later. I even have one from the night James Brown appeared. I was a DJ (weren't most people) and have many of the 12" classics in storage just screaming to be placed back on the turntable once again. Please keep me in the loop when a reunion in 07' is organized. I would like to go back to a time that was much simpler than today.

I found this page by accident, but it feels like I'm in a time capsule. All the songs, names, stories, great times!!! Anyone remember when James Brown appeared? It was a Sunday night. The 'House was rockin that night.
Then there was A Saturday night when Shannon ("Let the music play"), played at the club I deejaying at and had to get to the 'house cause she was do on stage by 1:00 am. She put me on the guest list and when I got to front door, Ronnie did'nt believe me. He checked the list, and there it was; "Benny D + 3". I was on cloud 9 that night. Anyone remember that peformance? The crowd was absolutely crazy for her that night, she was in tears. Those are some quick hits from me. Those times can never be duplicated, but nothing can ever change our memories. Nice talking to all of you, enjoy the rest of the stories!

June23 is gonna be a blast hope to see all my old bubby from the past i miss those day

Hey Everyone,

Unfortunately I have a little bit of bad news. The June 23rd party is going to have to be temporarily postponed and moved to a later date. The reason for this is this party has simply grown way to big to hold in the venue we origianlly booked.

In the best interest everyone and the party, we will have to find another location, and possibly another date.

The last thing I want to happen is to have the party raided and shutdown or have someone get hurt because too many people were in the club. It would be unsafe and unfair to everyone, especially those making plans to fly or drive long distances in from another state.

Also, we will be filming a movie about the Fun House live on that night!! So if you were originally unable to attend you will get a second chance.

I am already working on alternatives for this, and hoping I can still do the 23rd, but right now I have no guarantees as of yet. I am hoping to have a few answers in the next couple of days.

I will be in touch with everyone and keep you posted.

For those of you who already have their passes, they will be honored for the future date. New passes will be issued.

I truly apologize to all of you from the bottom of my heart for any inconvenience this may have caused.

After hours of tireless and endless search, THE PARTY IS ON!!!!

It is being held on Friday June 22, 2007

at Passage Palace, located at 87-08 18th Ave in Brooklyn, NY on the corner of 18th Ave & Benson Ave.

Hours will be from 8pm to 4am.

The admission is $25 per person. You can pay however you like, in advance or by the door. There is plenty of parking available, however if you choose you can have the car Valet parked. Origianl passes issued will be honored.

We will have room for all of you, no problem, we have the entire place to ourselves. It has a Main room, outside area and an Upstairs.

For people flying in from out of town, check to see if you can get an earlier flight, that is possible on non refundable tickets.

The funhouse was my first disco i ever went to and that place was awesome...loads of good memories there from 78 to 81. i became a champ playing pacman there lol....and me and my friend use to go and eat up all the pretzels in the bowl...my spot was in front of the dj's booth the clowns face..i use to love halloween at the funhouse....and use to love to see them cute guys dancin, hehehhe i think they were brothers they wore the same shorts and kick up high in the air...and i was there the night the funhouse got raided, that was dumb coz we was having fun...i have teenage kids and i wish the funhouse was open so they can experience it...but the clubs in these days aint nottin like the ones back in da daze....when i use to go the the fun house i surely did have loads of fun!

Shannon (let the music play) was there. Me & my crew were supposed to be her back up dancers that night. At the very last minute she decided against it. She complained that with us dancing No one would be looking at her. So after all our hard work, new costumes and everyone expecting to see us perform, we were out.
Well I went off on her and I was asked to cool off outside. THE Best part was... When I came back in, Shannon was rehearsing her song and she threw the mic down on the floor, It was Madonna's mic (Madonna was rehearsing too) Madonna was pissed and went off on Shannon. I was so happy!!! We went on to bigger & better things anyway. I'll tell you The Fun House had the most amazing entertainers perform there! That place was the best. It was my home away from home. I still have Herbie Hancocks Albulm that he handed me when I was hanging out in the VIP room near the DJ booth.

Hey Kim, I remember the night Madonna performed with the wireless mic and it was cutting in-and-out on her. That was about the time those mics were relatively new. Anyway, she stopped the show so they could change the system to the wired mics, and she was on stage baby-talking to Jellybean that she still loved him and "you wouldn't do this to me, would you?"
This was right after they had broken up, I was laughing because I think it was the first time she was embarresed. I'm not to fond of Madonna. I'll tell you that story another time.

I worked 2 days a week made 66 bucks Of cause no one I knew finished school we all dropped out of F.K Lane But those 2 days I worked was for the FH. When I was there Angelo was at the door. Of cause Ronnie - wearing his feather boa. Jelly Bean was there. I'd get there 10:50 and drop a double barrel And dance my a** off till 7 and start heading back to OZ. I stood with all the guys from the All in the Family Newstand and we danced on the center stage... Gosh Now I'm 43 and my son is a year older than me when I first went to TFH...

I was there for a few of the raids and I was so nerdy at the time, I found them exciting! LOL. LEE BOTZ, what's up? FH was real live, though I don't think everyone truly realized just how influential it would come to be. With all the press on Paradise & Loft, I don't think enough people knew about FH.

its funny how everbody seemed too young to be ALLLOWED IN THE FH.myself included i remember the first time going there,i think it was halloween 81,i was in 8th grade!my older sisters had to take after bugging them for months.i put on a cheap "sheik"costume(a plain white shheet with a head band around to conceal how young i was)going through the maze of mirrors and hearing the awesome sound system i knew this place was special.i was a little shy at first but litle by litle i started to dance.i was more into jellybeans mixing though and i couldnt wait to go to school (jhs 217) in queens and brag about going to the funhouse.thanks to my sisters for putting up with me...disco circus is definetely their anthem.

My name is Mike. I was from the Sheepsheag Bay projects. I knew many of the buggers. We would do our thing to get polluted then have fun all night. I was a little younger than them so I sort of just watched for awhile. I looked up to the buggers. Darlene was so pretty and confident back then. Tough too. I was friends with Kenny who died in prison last November. He had the funhouse clown tattooed on his arm. We were bad kids at the time. The things we did for money still amaze me. Amazed the judge too who allowed me to go in the Marines instead of Jail LOL. I left in Oct of 81 and would come home on leave and see the Funhouse through the changes it went through. So many friends were dusted now. Kenny went and did 3 1/2 years in prison for the same crap we did together. Younger kids were break dancing instead of bugging. Since we had urine tests in the Marines, I had to stay straight so it was pretty boring ;)Actually, I gave it all up for those four years and even for four years after. Not a drop of alcohol even. If I could have, I would have stayed away from trouble. Even in the service, I saw guys getting locked up for that crap. I miss those Funhouse days though. For some reason (who's house did I get it from), I had a real 35mm camera and took a few pictures. I regret not taking more. I should have taken pics in the summer of 81 when we would all go back and sit on the benches after breaking night at the Funhouse. Bobby Perez brought the buggers back to chill in the projects. Adalis Leon who became a singer/actress/MTV VG was part of our circle. Not a bugger but a girl from the area who liked to hang out in the projects. Her sister was hotter I must say ;) Howie and Mark, Joey do-it. I remember Joey wanted to be a cop and we thought that was nuts. They said he had a fast heart rate and was disqualified or something. I wonder why LOL. I hope he is the one who I am talking about. Ronnie once came over to the apt on Ave U. His car got the window smashed if I remember. A Cadillac. I have one pic of Mark Bugger outside a store on Ave X. If it is the same Mark. He has a red Cocaine shirt on that looks like a Coca Cola shirt. He is blowing smoke out I think. A very clear pic that looks like it was taken yesterday. I will have to look in the album. I saw Bobby MOO Moo over the years. I gave him his pics from that day and he looked down and was stunned. Him in his youth. The pics came out from under plastic for the first time since 81. Ann sent me a pic in the Marines that I still have. I think it is her, Jill and Darlene in the back of the Funhouse. Ann was a pisser. Thought she was Marilyn Monroe for a while there. She would lock onto a guy and call him Joe (as in Dimmaggio). She was so pretty with those dark haired features. I used to ride around with Jill. She had a taxi that her dad owned if I remember right. She was so sweet. People felt bad for her but we didn't. She was just one of us. Someone said she passed away. I hope not. That hit me the same way when someone told me a few Marine buddies were killed when I was in Beirut in 83. Anyway, peace and love to all of the people I crossed paths with. Especially the buggers. If our kids only knew!

What a place! It was a FUNHOUSE. The best deejays, the best sound and lights. A very mixed crowd always, leaning towards a gay club, but I picked up a few females there. On my scale it gets a 10.

Oh my gosh, what memories and WHaT INcredible songs you guys brought back to me! Gosh I loved wearing my red and white striped shorts with keds and cut off shirts to the funhouse where we could dance til 8am and hear the song "Mexican" as the doors would be opening...Morning sad mornin..lol. I have a few songs that I didn't see here...remember Stone Fox Chase? That has to be up there because I think Funhouse is the only club that ever played that song...and of course how bout Tony Cooks On the floor - I betcha you can't say ooh ooh aah I betcha ya can't say aah aaah. That was classic...well I am in FL now and WISH so badly that I could be there for your reuinion...just to dance til 8 am and watch all the kick dancers reuinite would be worth it alone. They were the hottest men in any club I ever seen, with six packs and cut off shorts, chinese slippers and head bands..lol well we could do without the headbands haha. Funhouse rocks! Oh my gosh the pics were great. Looked like you guys were jammin. I read the comments though and it doesn't look like many were happy with the venue...hey no worries, there is going to be a next one right!? Hope to have one here in FL also. I lived in Brooklyn and my friend Ray was good friends with Johnny Mo who worked at the club. I was real young at the time but I had a way of gettin in there. Johnny and Ronnie would slip me in through the door behind the front desk, lol. I was then inroduced to Joe Monk. I later ended up working with Joe at Plaza Suite and doing some construction work for him... If you remember me Joe, whats up!! Joe, tell your nephew Peter I said hello. But i have some good memories of the Fun House. Crazy stuff up on the balcony, sex in the fun house cars, lol. I even got to hang in the famous DJ booth a few times. By the time I started going to the Fun House it was a legacy already for yrs. I used to see the big Fun House clown on some record store wall on Ave U for yrs before I even got to go there. Then every time I went I could not believe I was even there... It was great to be a part of it. And its still great to say I was there!

Would Someone PLEASE give a message to Jerry (Owner) / and Al, Vinny's brother in law and the brothers that bought Mon Vi Je in Howard Beach ,I can't think of there names . Anyway tell them I took a picture of all of them with The Beautiful Vicki La Motta at the Bar and would love to get them a copy. I just found this by accident... I was telling my step-daughter & her husband about the Funhouse... I can't believe it... I lived there for 3 years... Me & my crew from Brooklyn would some how manage to get there rain or shine, cme hell or high water every friday & Saturday... We had the "hook-up" with Ronnie and would get in for free. What's up people it's me Darla! Pete the freak sister! I can't believe this site exist. Dean Green Bean, Zambola Man!!!! lol! Mark Bugger, Howie Wowie, Where is Do It!!!!! I saw his pictures no comments though. sounds like everyone one is pretty much doing pretty good. Got in contact with a couple of old brooklyn friends recently on facebook. Lost a couple of us.. Me and my girlfriends from Ave U would go every Saturday nights, worked for Joe Monk on the hotdog truck outside confiscating the weapons..I miss the great music and great people, had alot of fun. Tracy, Rita, AnnMarie, Valerie and all of us would get a ride and go directly to manhattan Beach! If anyone knows of any reunions let me. Answer to mikeyboy....the funhouse clown mural on Avenue U and East 23rd is no longer there, has been repainted over....that was a beautiful pic of the clown for sure...My brothers and his friends Jerome Tucker, Harry Chiu, my bro Danny, Franky, Nicky, cuz Mikey, and all would also go to the Funhouse, they hung out on that corner. Coming out of the funhouse Sunday morning s*&^%d! Did not want to ever leave that place..greatest dance club EVER!!!!

The Funhouse, kids today have no idea!! The place was home, great music, I started my record collection because of the Funhouse. My favorite no doubt was Beat the Clock, and Lady America, but close second, Stone Fox Chase, Dicso Circus and The Break. Hey if anyone knows how I can buy a Funhouse shirt, I saw Joe Monk in Bensonhusrt wearing one, but colud not stop to talk. Let me know, I know there out there!!

The best day of my life was going to the FUNHOUSE with friends racing to get there before 11pm so we can get in free . Friends we met there and Friends we Still are no matter what race we were all friends still to today.goingto the FUNHOUSE every friday night and saturday night was the best two days out of the week got to dance our hearts out and be with friends. music all night. changing clothes to fit the mood. upstairs down stairs in the game room in the middle or the back. on the big dance floor. even in the bathroom, in the exit walking out the door dancing all time we had so much fun there could never be a place like the FUNHOUSE memorious for the rest of our lives. even though we all grew up got married or divoce had some kids many of us are still around showing up to events parties . the music on the radio is no where the same then being at the FUNHOUSE . listen to jellybean playing that special song. first love first dance first memerious will never be forgotten

WOW!!! I can't believe how many people have posted. A few years ago, I checked these websites for anything related to The Funhouse and there was really not much on the Web. I thought it was just something that I perceived as something that was just amazing in my life. I've been totally affected by my time at the Funhouse(1979-1982) so much so that until this day I primarily listen to and seek out any music related to what Jellybean played until the wee hours in the morning. I live in Naples, Florida now and would love to hear from anyone who was from The North Bronx who hung out upstairs.
