COMMENTS ON THIS DISCO / DISCOTHEQUE / NIGHTCLUB
Wow, that takes me back. I used to go there as a kid back in the late 60's and early 70's. It was the first roller disco before "disco" even had a name.
The Empire was and still is "the joint". Every Tuesday night the have the old school night. I remember a bunch of us from Marlboro projects used to go there to skate. We used to bring our own skates because sometimes we would get in fights with the kids from flatbush or brownsville and you might not have time to change. You had to skate all the way to the D train, hopefully with your sneakers and jacket in tow!
A crummy ghetto place in a crummy ghetto neighborhood. I understand that it has finally closed after years of violent incidents.
