Feb 17, 2008 | 11:39 amOne of the early pioneers of Miami based DISCO sound. T.K. records used this place as a measuring stick to see if their product could work. It could and did. I don't know who the deejays were, but it was before beat mixing, and before blending. Mostly Carlos Nodal type chops and cuts. It was before Honey For The Bears, and maybe Jimmy Yu was the deejay, I really don't know. But it wasn't Luis Martinez, this place was before his time. On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 6 for being one of the first.

Dec 22, 2003 | 3:18 pmThis was another great legendary Miami club located in what is now the “Coconut Grove Playhouse”, this club was a local hang out for many Disco music lovers in those years, the sound system was pretty good for its day and the music was second to none

I managed at night with Penny and then Jay Sugarman the Widow for Burtan Goldburg also the owner of the Mutiny. For me and I worked at the finest discos in the city at one time or another, at was the best. The club was modeled after an oppulent turn of the 20th centuray French bordillo. How perfect is that, an elegant meat market for Grovites. The sound system was (because it was the first) a study of persiverence. We smoked (literally) thousands of dollars worth speakers before settling on Cerwin Vegas. I loved the place. Jamie H.
