What was the name of the club that replaced 231?
Posted Mar 21, 08 | 12:40 pm by Kim

The club that replaced it was Gil and Ernies. That lasted until about 1992.

We would travel from Brooklyn every Friday night to 231. Everything about it was great: the people, the atmosphere and the music.

My friends and I lived in there. We were close with AJ we never waited on line never paid to get in and always hung by the upsatirs bar with Bobby B. I remember ordering 50 shots of Absolut at at time back then. Great music, great clothes. We went Weds thru Suday every week like a religion!

I was one of the DJs there (DJ JOHNNY I) fridays and sundays for about a year-and-a-half. DJ Bobby D. (thursdays and saturdays) got me the gig. Then on Sunday while DJing a Sweet 16, DJ Steve Thompson came into the booth and said you work for me, and left...that was the beginning of my sundays. AWESOME crowd, AWESOME times! please visit me at 'www.MIX4105.com'

I used to work there too, we partied like there was no tomorrow. Everyone had a great time. Classy place, we all dressed the part, bow tie and tux shirts. What fun , drove there in my Gucci Cadillac. Most fun job I ever had.
