Harlows
2nd & Bank St. Philadelphia, PA
Harlows was the first nightclub in Philly to play R&B and mix songs. Two floors of dancing with the reputation of bringing in only the sharpest people in Philly.
Ray Albertini (Raymond Albertini) was the DJ and all the future great djs of philly were there with little notepads writing down the names of songs. Some of the songs were, "I Belive In Miracles," "Date With The Rain," "Bannadicoco," "I Got It," "Dirty Old Man," "Loves Theme," "La La Peace Song." This was the spot that inspired me to be a dj.

COMMENTS ON THIS DISCO / DISCOTHEQUE / NIGHTCLUB
I was attending Philadelphia College of Art at the time. I'd go to Harlows
on friday nights to dance! Great place,
The place was actually three floors,
with dancing on all three.
With as many people that were dancing in that place at the same time, Its amazing the building didn't collapse...
actually, it's funny because i have been trying to locate ray albertini for 25 years. i was actually the first dj at harlow's when it opened, and ray took the job when i left. ray was a good friend of mine from los angeles who came to stay with me in philly and wound up staying. i have always wondered where he is today. if anyone out there knows, from the poster of this site, to phil lebash, the man who posted the pic, PLEASE let me know. i would love so to talk to ray again.
hey, you can reach me at scojjtoe@aol.com thanks
I went along with the TAVARES brothers when they performed there. Easily the class DISCO of its time in Philly. Very enthusiastic crowds, and a great show every time. Two floors of the best. A solid 10 on my scale.
