Feathers
3601 Hempstead Turnpike, Long Island, NY
Feathers was a dance club for the locals in the Long Island area. The sunk-in dance floor was made for the hustles, with 1,000 coka-cola bottles implanted in the ceiling with lighting effects along with multi-colored helicopter & strobe lights.
Resident D.J.'s Don Scaturo (DJ Scat), Dominick Lauriano & Tony Lovetro kept the dancers busy all night long.
They had great gimmick nights such as 2-for-1, ladies drink free & free dance lessons by Mike & Arlene.

Do I have any memories of Hempstead Type in the 1970's and 80's? You bet I do. Should I tell all? Besides the 'Big Band era" of the 1940's, the late 1970's and even into the 90's, were the most entertaining times of the 20th century. Feather's was only one of at least 15 other clubs within a 20 mile area. Each night a different club featured a specialty. Everyone knew exactly where to go and on what night. I have great memories of feathers when started going there, and then becoming one of the dj's back in the early 80's. great hot spot on the turnpike remembering some of my friends that i.ve met,bobby d, dj scat, doug the bartender, joey,robin, i had a great time working there, if anyone reads this please contact me gregmino@verizon.net
