YOUR MEMORIES & COMMENTS ON Broadway 96

Used to go there when I was a kid, DJ Raul, Lights by Devo. Sound by Notorious Starr Bros. EV loaded fiberglass horns w/ piezo tweeters on the top. Wasn't RLA but good for its time. They always had an open bar b4 midnight, mostly served bottom shelf...Tom Collins, screwdrivers, etc. My biggest recollection was the Webo dance contests where the girls would strip down to nutting and win $100. It was always advertised on KTU... Bamba La Bamba....

A classic New York 'Puta" bar. If you had money and/or drugs, you went home with a babe. Otherwise, just below average. A 4 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Used to get in when I was just 16 in '82 (i just looked older than the rest of my boyz) and used to have a blast on those Fri/Saturday nights, checking out the females getting their webo dance on. Music was blazing and the crowd was jumping. Memories are a little hazy though, heh heh ;) They definitely had the hotties in there though. Great club...wish I could turn back the clock!

During the late 80s and 90s through early 2000s that was the salsa spot. Everybody who was anybody could be seen there, from time to time. Paul Rodriguez, Felipe Feliciano, Antonio Fargas, Eddie and Maria Torres (the salsa teachers) and of course the salsa legends, Hector Lavoe, Tito Puente, Pete "el Conde" Rodriguez, Frankie Ruiz and on and on and on...frequented this magnificent spot. The name changed to the Latin Quarters, but it kept the same vibe of the best dancers in the area coming out to keep that spot #1. I don't know what happened, but it should've stayed open!
