Gambits
Lejeune Road Marriot (?) Miami, Florida
Remember many Thursdays at Gambits. Hung out at Casanovas Wednesday and Sundays, 94th Aero Squadron Fridays and Pete and Lenny's Saturday. Had the fever so bad that I needed another place and Gambits fit the bill. Don't remember much other than the music as it was fantastic. Did not reach the levels that Casnovas, 94th or Pete and Lenny's had, but it sure was great for Thursdays. Many Stingarees (Go MIami High) hung out there and we usually knew each other so we always had fun. If anyone else has more memories please post.

COMMENTS ON THIS DISCO / DISCOTHEQUE / NIGHTCLUB
Gambit's was a favorite Friday night hangout for us. We would sneak in before 11pm since we were underage & they did have excellent disco music...
I remember hearing Human League's "Don't You want Me?" for the first time there. Friday's was Gambit's & Saturday's was Scaramouche.
Gambit's was indeed small but packed them in on weekends.
met my wife at this club in 1991. this club tried to please everyone. it was mostly disco but they played spanish music and slow dance music. I remember it free cover. It was a small club , with small dance floor and was overpacked with way too many people.
2/8/06 A Letter from the Head DJ.
I am so glad to read the positive feedback from everyone about Gambits. My company provided the DJs, Social Expressions Music, for over 12 years from 1980 to 1992. My name is George Rivero. I always believed in programming good disco music, 80s dance, Freestyle, with a combination of European Imports (I would travel to NY to buy the newest imports) , slows, Retro Alternative, and a little latin. The actual purpose of the slows at the club was that I wanted to offer a different atmosphere for the disco dancers and the couples. It was the perfect club to meet the opposite sex. Dance some disco and then cuddle up to a great love song. We were unique! No other place in the Miami Club scene played slows. I would like to personally thank all the DJs of Gambits during this era. Especially the DJs that really made it happen: Ernie Garcia, Jimmy Tojeiro, Waldo Alvarez, Luis Silva, Luis Garcia, Robert Garcia, Diego Duques and Juan Perdomo. I also really want to express my sincerest gratitude to our two veteran Gambits DJs that are still in the company: Albert Gil and Ricky Ramos. I appreciate your loyalty, friendship and GREAT MIXING! I also would like to thank all of our regulars, without you, Gambits would never have been as hot as it was! I also want to thank all the sexy Gambits Girl Contest Winners, Disco Dance Contest Winners, The Hot Legs Contest Winners, The Bikini Contest Winners and The Best Buns Contest Winners. All of you made our Wednesday and Thursday Ladies Night a place to be! And we can not forget the two main bartenders, Ira and Tom. The were the best! I am in the process of planning a Gambits Reunion in which the music format will be the same great music from that era. It will be at The End Zone in West Dade, our company's current place to DJ. Guest DJs will be all from Gambits. If you are interested in this reunion, call me. Once again, thanks for the positive feedback. all the good memories and I'm glad all of you enjoyed GAMBITS! That was the goal for all of us as the Gambits DJs! Thank you!
Yes, Retro George, remember many a time almost falling asleep on a girl's while dancing a slow . They were classic slow jams that you only heard at house parties.
Loved Gambits. Great music, great people. Let me know about the get together, sounds great.
wow what great memories...used to jam at Gambits late 80's..great music, always packed with beautiful women, remeber slow dancing with many Cubanitas there back in the day...has the reunion taken place???
This mediocre club was on the lobby floor of a Marriot Hotel, that restricted the club, it was a small lounge, and even though DISCO was part of the music played, it wasn't a DISCO. But it had good food and strong drinks. The deejays varied so much, it never developed a personality other then a place to meet before you hit the clubs. On my scale, a 3.
I loved this place! I met a few Ladies there.. (My X too! ) My friend Albert would dj there every now and then...
"HEY JESSE! NOW JEROME"....lol
good music, good drinks, close by.. great memories!
