I live in Dallas now. I miss the Circus Disco! What a great club to party at. I started going to Circus in 1983! I even remember Gene! This is one of the best clubs that I have ever been to in my life, and I have lived in many cities. Keep up the great job Gene! Can't wait to visit LA soon and go out to the Circus! Don
What A blast from the past when I saw Circus, I remember going there for the first time back in 79, when Disco was really hot. That old meat packing building has alot of memories. Hope to visit it soon when I visit from Tucson
Good times at Circus, I started going there in 85 and Im still going there, I feel like a veteren when Im there, in 85 I would dance the night away, now Im into the shows, I enjoy having a drink in the patio, little dancing, I always meet young interesting people, it brings back good old times, when we us to get waisted and party the night aways.... Ow! and a (must do) hot dog from the carts waiting outside the club...
Gene THANKS FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN!
The vip birthday partys, bbq's, 5 de Mayo, anniversay partys, halloween partys etc... THANKS Gene!
Always had excellent music! The smaller room is where the serious hustling was going on...Do any of you remember Jeno's or Marilyn's Backstreet?
I LOVED CIRCUS!!!!!!!! I met my husband there and 23years later, we are still going strong. It was one of the best places ever. I am also a former My Uncle's and Gino's gal. Those days I must say were the best days ever. I miss them but are thankful for the memories.
Circus Disco was such a blast I began going there 23 or 24 years ago. Had many firsts there, I knew how to play hard. I was also a My Uncles and Geno's boy
I still go to Circus a few times a year. I will upload some pictures later.
Circus Disco was huge. Huge! The speaker's bigger than my apartment. Went there one night when they had a semi retro night and played Donna Summer's Love To Love You, Baby. Never heard that song played like that coming from those bass beats, will never be quite the same. Ah!
I love the place. The club's atmosphere, ultra friendly vibes, & spiritually, adrenaline, uplifting music has taken me away from life's weekly struggles. I have interviewed many djs, who have spun on an electronica radio show, I co-host.
The owner, Gene, was kind enough to let me ask patrons at the door & inside if they will sign a volunteer petition to end farm animal abuse in CA.
Also, I am planning to release a single titled "Don't Slip That Pill In My Drink." I needed a picture of a bar for the cd cover, & again the kindness of "Circus" allowed for the photo. You can take alook at the phot on MySpace.com/MoniqueMarissaAKAUniqueMoniqueMusic
I will never forget "Circus" & how it welcomed me with open arms when I 1st got here 2.5 years ago, & how it kept it's arms open every weekend, especially the extra ordinarily wonderful entrance greeter, David Cole, who makes sure to give a platonic hug to all who walk in. The love starts at the door & ends hours later as u are leaving the park lot The high u get the next day from having danced your spirit free is wonderful...except if u go to bed past 4am...then it can be rough.
Please vote for "Don't Slip That Pill In My Drink" by NYE 2007 if u would (with the picture of the main "Circus" bar & bartender). Details to get on the voting site are in my blog.
Happy New Year & God Rest "Circus' Soul" ...and let me tell u, it had ALOT of it.
Monique
