This was a skating rink that would get so packed that there was no more room for skating so everyone would take their skates off and dance all night.
Sometimes there would be Sessions from 8pm - 8am. Shows Weekly.
Africa Bam & The Soulsonic Force, New Edition, Straffe, Quadrant Six, Run DMC just to name a fiew.
Some say breakdancing started here.

I don't even know where to begin! Where are the members of The Body Mechanics? Where are the members of Fancy Wheelers? Panama & Lance? Where in the world is skating Patty (white girl - sweet)???
Remember the lines, the fights, the leg-warmers, the beads???????? Someone please start a myspace page so we can keep in touch with the historic people of USA BROOKLYN.

Anyone who was a part of USA in brooklyn knows that this was the place to be in Brooklyn between 1981 until it closed. The owner only closed USA because of personal reasons,(I will not disclose those) It almost broke my heart when i was called into a meeting of the END!

Lance became a bouncer for another club in brooklyn for years.
I was intouch with Panama a fiew times but have seemed to loose contact.
I am still intouch with other dj's and security and all are doing well.
DJ Anthony Sanfillippo has become a Laywer!
DJ Cary Vance is still today in The record Buisness.
I am in Las Vegas now and own and operate a huge entertainment company and am still DJing 4 nights a week.

The Body Mechanics split up in 1985, we where the reigning break dancing champs in that skating ring. for a few years. we became that by beating break till dawn from coney island in a close contest. we came in third place at the swatch watch big break dance contest at the famous roxy a few years later.
juan, anthony, arcadio, lawrence, willie, shawn, kiko, joel, are and will always be the body mechanics.
juan, became a cop and has over 20 yrs. on the force.
anthony, has his own business,
arcadio, works for a lawfirm.
lawrence, works for a company that fixes computers.
willie, unknown.
kiko, lives in sunset park.
joel, runs little league baseball
shawn, lives in atlanta.

I was thinking of USA today because someone wanted to know a name of a song and it reminded me of when I skated there as a girl I was looking at the comments and they mentioned Anthony of Body Mechanics and when I saw the pic's on the myspace page of the Library on 51st street, I realized it's my cousin so it's funny to see him back in the day like that brings back memories and I'll make sure to pass along the pic's to him. Wow those were great times!
