Jimmy Byrnes

Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY

Jimmy Byrnes was the place to be for Local Queens residents because of it's diversity. Where else can 15 yr. olds get into a place that proofed for 18 & over and have no problem.

It was split in two. 1 Side was the ROCK side which featured Live Bands & the Other side was the Disco side. (This is where all the Hotties hung out). Famous Rock bands that performed there (before they became famous) were Twisted Sister, Alive & Kickin' and Bon Jovi.

The Disco side was always packed. Resident DJ Louie Mangione spun on Saturday nights and the line was out the door to get in!

A night of pounding beats of Jimmy Bo Horne, Voyage and Patrick Hernandez (just to name a few)... wow. Now we're talking

COMMENTS ON THIS DISCO / DISCOTHEQUE / NIGHTCLUB

I was one of many DJs at Jimmy Byrnes. I had the greatest time at that club.
I was pretty much allowed to do what I wanted to musically.

I remember the day I was hired. I interviewed with Charlie Rydell.
A body builder. The guyed towered over me, making me feel very intimidated.
Nonetheless, he liked how I mixed, and I ended up spinning there for two years.

One night as I was playing, some very crazy kids threw a cinderblock right through the front glass entrance - near the DJ booth - hitting me in the leg.
You should have seen the bouncers run and catch the culprit.

It was all good fun.
