Prior to Trader Johns, Climax was a strippers' club turned into a disco. You would hang around the parking lot were more action was going on.

I was a staple at the Climax on Wednesdays for the dance contests & definitely on the weekends. The parking lot was THE place to hang out. So many amazing memories & I'm so glad I found the "we grew up in Miami in the 69's & 70's on FB. Wow, this is too cool!

From 1972 to 1973 my friends and I would frequent The Climax. This was a small club and had a small dance floor, but the place would fill up, where one could not move. It had pretty good, live bands playing on Saturday nights. Big crowds would hang outside and socialize. The cars pulling in would stop in the middle of the parking lot and people would hold conversations from the cars with the people standing outside. We met a lot of interesting people there such as Jimmy, Piriguo, Julian, etc. Then, at 11:00 p.m., we would leave and go to Le Disc, on the 79th street Causeway. Many of the regulars at the Climax were also students at Miami Dade Community College, which was right down the street from the club. We have great memories of that live music. I remember dancing to Janis Joplin's "Half Moon", songs from Three Dog Night and also some soul music as well. This is where I met my two very good friends who I still communicate with. It has been over 40 years!
If any one went to the Climax, please let me know, so we can share memories.
