Le Club at the Buffalo Hilton

I also remember the nightclub was subject to the hotel's F&B-manager-of-the-month policy. No one ever stayed very long in that position! I recall New Year's Eve 1983 -- the F&B manager was from Scotland. We were charging a $20 cover charge (the club had no cover charge the rest of the year). Erie County allowed clubs to stay open and serve liquor 'til 4 a.m. Well, our ultra-conservative F&B Mgr. from Scotland decided that "all decent people should be home and in bed at this hour!" and ordered me to give last call at 12:55 a.m.! Someone got Mr. Chen on the phone and told him what was going on. That did it -- we stayed open 'til 4 a.m. and the F&B Mgr. was on the streets Jan. 1.

This club was located inside the Buffalo Hilton Hotel. It was owned by Clement Chen, the hotel's owner. I worked there as a DJ in 1981-'82, 1984 and also 1994. The decor had not changed at all from its grand opening in '81 to the time I left Buffalo in '94... The hotel now is the Adam's Mark but I do not know if the club still exists. We hosted live concerts there with Vicki Sue Robinson, Andrea True, Musique and Gloria Gaynor there in '82. -- "Dr. John" Bisci
