I use to hang out at the castaways and the wreckbar i think it was spelled that way, I still have two shaker can's from the wreckbar at home in miami, this was an interesting bar, if I am not mistaken it was either under water or part under water.

This place was a tourist rap. If you turned on the radio in MIAMI in the early to mid seventies, you heard an advertisement for The CASTAWAYS. Over-hyped, watered down drinks that cost five bucks more then anywhere else. It could only be called a DISCO because it had what they called a deejay and a sound system. In fact, I think it was a MOBLIE deejay who set up shop in the middle of a maze that was the lobby. It was a maze because there were little"Islands" that held tables in the middle of a man-made pool like area that was The CASTAWAYS. Few locals patronized this place, it was 97 per-cent TOURISTS! I remember its final few years, on Saturday nights there would be a dozen people. It is now a CONDOMINIUM on Collins Avenue and 163rd street.
