Empire
2424 Swiss Ave. @ Good Lattimer, Dallas, TX
2424 Swiss Ave Dallas, Texas USA
Post Starck era club that was previously a dinner theater with stage area used as part of the dancefloor and balcony seating. Owned by Skip McCarter and a couple other guys. Door was Sherry Seipel. Tangella was back from NYC and was the drag queen du jour with her flawless weekly show. Wild Wednesdays were a very popular gay night with 75 cent drinks and DJ Tony Fair. Tony's mix was eclectic and original. He popularized Joyce Sims' COME INTO MY LIFE and he did it single-handedly as it was not being played anywhere else in Dallas. So popular in fact the club booked Joyce Sims and she played a sold out show. Other songs on Tony's playlist were Salt n Pepa's PUSH IT, When In Rome's THE PROMISE, The Pet Shop Boys' ALWAYS ON MY MIND, Eric B & Rakim's PAID IN FULL and PUMP UP THE VOLUME by MARRS to name a few.

I have some photos to post to the infamous Empire.. pre Empire and after Empire all of which were regular Guest list ppl of Empire and Starck.
Also included in the pics are Master Djs Tony Fair and Ronnie Bruno as well as the infamous Skip McCarter who owned Empire.
I worked there at the Door with Sherry as well, coat check, and cocktailing for Skip at Empire.
I Followed (one of my Dearest and best friends STILL 20 years later) the owner of Empire ..Skip McCarter from Empire,to Adam Hat,to Industry,to Starck/Industry parties merged at the Starck door.
I also worked for Skip as his PR manager, Door girl, for Industry as well as bathroom Monitor for ppl staying in the ONE bathroom of Industry we had.
To kick ppl out of the bathroom doing party favors too LONG,LOL!
Though we have all moved on to different places I will always be nostalgic of that very SPECIAL ERA.
THANKS SKIP and THANKS TONY for making Empire a VERY special, classy, and one of the MOST ELEGANT clubs I have ever been to aside from
Starck!!!
