CLUB DETAILS, MEMORIES, YEARS IN OPERATION & TECHNICAL DETAILS
AlcazabaAlcazaba is located in the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables and opened in late 1987 with DJ Jose Garcia and DJ Alex Gutierrez.

True to the Miami sound it's format was a blend of classic Disco, Salsa, merengue and contemporary dance hits. Never much on lights or sound but a Wednesday night institution for over 10 + years. A Wednesday night so solid that when rival club Canseco's opened up in the early 90s just when caller ID was becoming available a bomb threat was received at 9pm on a Wednesday Night. Still going on today , still play Disco, but mainly Salsa unless we start seeing more old timers . I left as DJ for about 3 years and now I'm back there on Wednesday happy Hours.

I had many wonderful Wednesday nights at Allie's! And the DJ was awesome playing the Disco music, this was in the mid-90's. I lived around the corner on Zamora Avenue so would rush home change from work to party clothes, get there in time for the free left over lunch buffet and drink free wine all night with my gal pals.

Saturday nights were good for a while but nada spectacular - went back for memories sake about 10 years ago and it had bit the dust - que pena!

Now that it's closed,we can appreciate Alcazaba just a little bit more.People from our time have very little choice as to where to go, any day of the week!!
The clubs I work at now have mainly a latin format ,of course I'll sneek in something here and there usually towards closing,so that the last few drunks can do that dance where they point their index finger into the air in their intoxicated tribute to disco, but I least i get to leave with a smile on my face with the memories those songs bring back...

with all due respect. i dont think all the credit should go to alex gutierrez. frank banderas is very good too. alex gutierrez; music is just too repetetive for my taste. he play same old songs every week. there is no variety in his music. either the same old oldies or the same old new ones.

    de madre. is right.

Alex it has NADA to do with you bro,you kick a** and to be honest it was the ONLY reason I event went!

Don't take anything personally Alex, I am not getting down on YOU! I just never liked the place. Hell, you must be doing something right, you have been there forever!! Good Job!! It is like in the old days, some people loved MUTINY, others thought it sucked!! The music, as long as its DISCO, will continue to rule!! My apologies if I insulted you, not my intentions, I just did not like the place or the crowd. You play great DISCO music, too bad there aren't more places!!!You're lucky, you still get to JAM!!!
