I used to love the Hippo. I want to go there so bad again..I have not been to the Hippo in over 20 years. I have visited their website many times. I used to know DJ Warren Gluck who used to spin there.

Does anyone out there remember a record on Cerrone's Malligator label (if my memory is correct) called "Phonic" by Crystal...or was it "Crystal" by Phonic. I used to have it until my records were stolen in a May 1979 burglary. Any help would be appreciated.

The hippo is a great club. I saw Divine perform live here in 1987 and still have the poster. It's not a huge club, but it was always a lot of fun and they have great lights & sound system. They would give you a 'hippo chip' when you paid your cover charge that was good for a drink at the bar.
They also had a new wave room off to the side where they would play that type of music and show videos. My favorite DJ was named John, I wouldn't be surprised if he was still there - but sadly the last time I was visiting Baltimore, it was hip hop night. Ugh!
