MUSIC REVIEW & COLLECTOR NOTES

How refreshing and honorable to see someone of the caliber of famed European DJ and remixer Ben Liebrand embark on a massive and daunting task to gather rare Disco tracks for a stellar compilation.

What makes Liebrand and his efforts so special is that he goes out of his way to scour the earth for the original master tapes so that he can provide us high fidelity, full, unedited and original versions of songs we as demanding collectors want. Don't believe it? He has held up the release of this, the third in an ongoing series, four CD set entitled Grand 12 Inches Volume 3 for several months to find missing master tapes. With the odd exception where a useable master tape could not be located, he expertly remastered the track from vinyl using only audiophile grade equipment, phono-preamps and turntables such as a ClearAudio turntable and high-end moving coil cartridges.

Grand 12 Inches 3 and the entire Grand 12"s series is highly recommended to any Disco collector who values high quality audio and is sick and tired of buying CDs claiming to use original 12 inch versions only to discover the opposite. We can only hope that Ben Liebrand will continue on the series with the same passion and dedication he has shown thus far.
