Fresh release from the legendary TK label. Foxy only had one real hit, "Get Off", but this compilation won't dissapoint you at all. Great stuff from an underrated band.

I finally received this cd the other day. To the average person, Foxy would be seen as a one hit wonder, for their funky, horny hit "Get Off" in 1978 from the hit lp of the same name. But before that they made waves with "Get Off Your Aaah And Dance" in '76, a fantastic, orchestrated sexy little number that grooves along nicely. Foxy were a 5-7 piece group of boys from Cuban heritage. Lead singer Ish Ledesma, percussionist Richie Puente and drummer Joe Galdo were mainstays. Their first self titled lp was produced by Ray Martinez, well known in disco circles for Amant, Passion and his own "Lady Of The Night" disco single. Foxy have a similarly titled song on this cd but it doesn't do much for me. Apparently frustrated with the dead audience at a gig, Ish, the lead singer, kept chanting "Get Off" from the refrain of their 1st (R&B) hit.The management were incensed but it provided them with a huge hit. Neither "Mademoislle" or "Tenas Song" do much for me.The selections from "Hot Number", their 3rd album are much better. The title track was a major hit. Its catchy, commercial and funky."RRRock" is similarly funky a bit slower paced also in 12" form.As we all know disco started to slow down in 1980, but "Party Boys" from the same named lp of that year, is great, a little unusual, here in an extended mix. "Fantasy" has a bit of an "Ol time rocknroll"feel to it and is a good end.My fav song would have to be "Chika Boom" a down tempo funky little number that is irristible. Also "HeadHunter" has a great break and is v enjoyable. One thing:Surely 4 mins is not the longest recording of "Get Off"? But what would I know, I wasn't even born in 1978.The liner notes are interesting and feature a foxy (groan) photo of the boys topless in the ocean..as you do. I would recommend this for those that like funky disco. I wish "You Make me Hot" had have been included! So heres their chart possies if anyones interested:
