Disco Party: The Best of the T.K. Collection

This CD, which was released by Collectables Records in 1994, was actually a 1978 promotional-only double-LP put out by T.K.-distributed Marlin Records containing non-stop mixes of current and past hits from the T.K. label (and its subsidiaries).

Many recognizable hits are here, such as "Get Down Tonight" by K.C and the Sunshine Band, "Rock Your Baby" by George McCrae, and "Best Disco In Town" by Ritchie Family. The songs are featured in a non-stop mix, and the mixing itself is very good.

What is perhaps astonishing about this CD reissue is that the full-length versions of "Get Down Tonight" and "Best Disco In Town" are included, which is something you normally don't see. Plus, any compilation containing Jimmy "Bo" Horne's "Gimme Some", T-Connection's "Disco Magic", Betty Wright's "Where Is The Love" and Eli's Second Coming's "Love Chant" is a must-have.

The only drawback is that this CD is mastered from the vinyl, so it has muffles and sound distortions and the like, but for Collectables to get their hands on this once-commercially unavailable 2-LP set, they should be commended for this.
