Giorgio Moroder's classic Disco album from 1977, "From Here To Eternity" has been re-released as a limited edition remastered CD by Hip-O Select. Only 5000 CDs have been pressed and it is aimed squarely at collectors and those that value audio quality. Remastered in 2004 by Gavin Lurssen of The Mastering Lab.
This special edition of From Here To Eternity appears not to be available in stores, but only from the label directly, Hip-O Select. I ordered my copy from them and received it in a few days. Must have been an early purchaser as my copy is #5 of 5000. The edition sold through stores is on the Repertoire label and not newly remastered as this one is.

Oct 15, 07 | 6:57 pmLike Chilly, my copy also lacks the stamped number. I bought it through eBay. Could it be that certain copies aren't gold stamped? Could they be promos?

Aug 28, 07 | 11:43 pmChilly,
It's stamped in gold on the top of the back cover. It says: "Limited Edition No. 0005/5000."

Aug 28, 07 | 10:47 pmI have this cd from hip-o select but have never been able to figure out where the "number" is on it. It doesn't say #/5000 anywhere on the cd or cardboard sleeve. How do you know yours is #5?

Feb 21, 06 | 12:29 pmArguably his best work outside of Donna Summer. Side one is a suite that begins and ends with the fresh and daring title track, which steps Giorgio's flat vocoder singing up and down a whole octave from verse to bridge and back. "Lost Angeles," is highly tweaked electronica with a chorus, which finally lets out it full range on the aptly titled "Utopia - Me Giorgio."
Side two features three more conventional
, but tightly wound cuts, the best of which is "I'm Left, You're Right, He's Gone."
Generally derided by rock critics upon its release, this album has so appreciated over the years that Fast n' Bulbous, the most precious of the online critic magazines, has assessed it at 10- (out of 10), a ranking equal to some of the best work of such world-beaters as The Beatles, Nina Simone, and Fela Kuti.
They're right. What at first sounds like the coldest electronica builds to a deep approximation of warmth, kinda like the curve that represents nothing more than a succession of right angles. Calculus, remember?

This is one of the best records of all time, coming out at the same time as Gary Numan's break out Replicas.
