Disco Discharge: European Connection celebrates all that is Euro in the musical sense as there are some North American artists on this excellent compilation.
The opening cut, Carry On, Turn Me On by Space begins with a lengthy sparse intro that builds slowly and sounds "so today" that you'll swear it's not from 1977! Of course other songs on this double compact disc set will sound dated, but in a good and memorable way. One myth that this comp helps to break is that Euro-Disco is cheesy or sounds all the same and that is obviously not the case here. MrPinks and the crew at Demon and Harmless have done a great job of stitching together varied tracks to give everyone a good taste of Euro and its many faces.
Let's assume for a moment that you were never into Euro and don't know most of the songs here, well chances are you'll still want European Connection for the classic and hard-to-find on CD, The Hills Of Katmandu by Tantra! Yes, the full 16+ minute version is here and in stunning sound although a tad bright for my ears. Plus, once you hear the other tracks you'll enjoy some new found music that you missed out on the first time around. Disco Discharge: European Connection is a must have!
