It seems incredible to think that Pearly Gates' career in show-business goes all the way back to the mid-60s when she formed The Gypsies, later The Flirtations, with sisters Earnestine & Shirley Pearce and had a string of soul classics with "Nothing But A Heartache", "Someone Out There" and "Little Darling" in the late 60s-early 70s. In 1973, Vie (as her real name is) launched her solo career with the Polydor single "Sad Ol' Shadow" before changing her artist name to Pearly Gates. Several more singles followed over the next years on RCA and Bronze Records while she was a regular performer with Cliff Richards, and also the first black female radio presenter at Radio Luxembourg. After an album with Ian Levine (recorded late 1979) was shelved, she enjoyed a big Hi-NRG club hit in 1985 with "Action", her most popular song to date. In 1989, she reunited with The Flirtations for another single "Back On My Feet Again" while she released another solo single "One Less Bell To Answer", both produced by Levine.

In 1995, her album "The Best Of Pearly Gates" was released on Hot Productions with her entire works with Ian Levine to date (including the lost 1979 album). While the 90s and 00s saw her move into management of other artists, she returned to record again for Levine's Centre City label compilations while also contributing two tracks to new Scandinavian label, Night Dance Records, "One Time Too Many" and "Stop For Love" for their Various Artists release, "The Plan".

This collaboration with producer and songwriter Soren Jensen evolved into a full album project, and after one year in the making, the new Pearly Gates album "On A Winning Streak" is finally here (Release: March 11, 2010) – a sensational digipac release with a 20-track CD / 12-track-DVD + interview, including a 16-page booklet with sleeve notes and photos. The album includes Pearly's new titles, "On A Winning Streak", "Letting Go Of The Pain", and a never-before-released song "Broken Bottles", written by none other than the Bee Gees!

Also included are 4 previously unreleased 1977 sessions from L.A. (produced by the legendary H. B. Barnum), Pearly's Centre City recordings with Ian Levine (all together on one disc for the first time), and a brandnew dance track by The Soundcarvers "I Got A Right". The #10 hit single (on Music Week's Commercial Pop Club Chart, December 2009) "Roulette" with The Flirtations is also included!
