MUSIC REVIEW & COLLECTOR NOTES

Backbeats Gimme A Break - 70s Breakbeats and Future Samplers has just been released and contains a real broad slice of music from the late 1960s up through the 1980s featuring everything from soul, pop and funk. Lots of tracks you may have not have heard, at least as complete tracks, yet sound oh-so familiar as many of them have been used in samples over the years.

Check out tracks like the James Brown inspired Razor Blade by Little Royal & The Swingmasters which serves up the horns and driving beat; I Can't Stop by John Davis and the Monster Orchestra and their Philly inspired soulful funky sound, which is a bit different from their other tracks; oh, and check out the 1974 track Lovemaniacs (Sex) by Bobbie Knight and the Universal Lady with the stabbing horns! Great selection of tracks make this disc a keeper.
