Backbeats

Backbeats Philly Disco takes us to the city of Brotherly Love; Philadelphia. Philly along with Gamble and Huff's stable of artists on their Philadelphia International Records label dominated the funky and sometimes lush orchestrated sound that picked up where Motown left off.

Backbeats pays homage to the songs that helped define the 1970s Disco and R & B scene. Starting off with the 1976 Archie Bell and the Drells hit, Let's Groove this excellent comp then gives us the full album version of Breaking and Entering by Dee Dee Sharp and while it would have been nice if they had used the Dexter Wansel and David Todd remix, this version is pretty close and great to have on compact disc.
