Pattie Brooks is a Disco era recording artist that was on the legendary Casablanca Records label out of Los Angeles. She is best remembered for her Simon Soussan produced song After Dark for the Thank God It's Friday movie soundtrack of 1978. Simon Soussan has had a long history in Disco and Northern Soul and he produced Patties first two albums for Casablanca. Soussan is also the brains behind French Kiss' Panic and Arpeggio's Love and Desire on Polydor.
While After Dark has been released on several compact discs and MP3 downloads over the years, Pattie Brook's complete albums from that timeframe have not-until now! The small independent label Funky Town Grooves out of the U.K. has gone to great lengths to work with, license and acquire the master tapes from Universal Music. The result is the long awaited release in digital format of two of Pattie Brook's two stellar albums: The 1977 Love Shook album which contains the wonderful Girl Don't Make Me Wait and the 1978 Our Ms. Brooks album containing After Dark.
Funkytowngrooves chose to release both complete albums from the original master tapes on one compact disc so it represents a fantastic value for the Disco music collector. The sound is crisp and detailed and a great surprise for those who have worn out their vinyl copies. Just listening to the Spanish guitars and strings on Girl Don't Make Me Wait are enough to get you tingly all over!
Donald Cleveland of Funkytowngrooves who is an active member of DiscoMusic.com tapped other DiscoMusic.com members for their artistic input. Stephen L. Freeman who has done many remixes for Hot Tracks... was chosen to write the liner notes and Dayna Newman who has provided DiscoMusic.com with several artist interviews over the years was tapped to create the front and back CD cover art.
