Montreal's own Suzy Q - first hit it big in Canada where her GET ON UP AND DO IT AGAIN became a huge club hit. America (and the world) soon followed - when Atlantic signed her. We all know that Carol Jiani sang on the very first version of GET ON UP..., but when a record contract prevented her from working on the album - the producers hired Michelle Mills.
Suzy Q's first album was a low-key funky affair. Economical yet effective. A second album followed the next year - but it didn't go anywhere.
Flash forward to a few years later when a series of Suzy Q 12"ers started to flood the market. The voice had changed, so did the tempos. Gone were the funky tracks - this time around the new Suzy Q was singing on top of turbo-charged Hi-NRG tracks. Turns out the voice now belonged to powerhouse singer Angie Vileno. (Special thanks to our very own Stephen L. Freeman for the amazing detective work!).
Most of those tracks are gathered here on this collection. COMPUTER MUSIC, CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOUR LOVE and DON'T COME CRYING TO ME are first rate NRG club hits.
Also included are credible covers of the Bombers' 1979 smash EVERYBODY GET DANCIN' and Suzi Lane's HARMONY - (this version is amazing and received tons of airplay).
Every track is a winner!
