Nile Rodgers branches out from his earlier Chic stylings to explore the boundaries of dance music circa 1983 originally released on Mirage Records.
Adventures In the Land of the Good Groove proved interesting for me as I never bought this album back in the day and it helped me connect the dots with Niles productions for others such as David Bowie... in the following years. My favorite cuts on the album are It's All In Your Hands and Rock Bottom. The original Mirage release on vinyl contained eight songs, but this special limited edition compact disc from UK reissue specialist label, Funky Town Grooves also includes two bonus tracks with extended versions.
The cover art is intriguing as it is a map of the isle of Manhattan made to look very ancient. Take a look at the landmarks, neighborhoods and streets and see if you can guess their original names.
