Italian funksters, Stefano Pulga and the rest of Kano took the dance floors by storm in 1980 with I'm Ready and It's A War on the old Emergency label and even released the self-titled album.
Almost a year later they followed this up with the album, New York Cake, which appeared stateside on the Mirage label. Unlike the first album which was more electronic and spacey at times, New York Cake uses the Jacques Fred Petrus' funkier and slower '80s sound.
The new reissue label out of the UK called Funky Town Grooves has taken this early eighties album and released it on compact disc for the first time in a limited edition run. The major hit from this album was Can't Hold Back, which appears here in its original album form and as a bonus extended 12 inch version. Another cut worth mentioning here is Round and Round and the Firefly-ish/Vin Zee sounding Don't Try To Stop Me.
