CD REVIEW & COLLECTOR NOTES

Legendary musician, producer and writer, August Darnell's alter-ego, Kid Creole finally gets a long deserved retrospective courtesy of U.K.'s Strut Records. It stretches from 1974 through 1983 and touches Disco and some rather eclectic genre benders along the way.

Kid Creole: Going Places – The August Darnell Years 1974 - 1983 will give fans and new comers alike a glimpse into the zoot-suit gangster's musical stylings and peels back the covers to reveal a truly talented artist.

Instead of making this simply a Kid Creole greatest hits compilation, which already exists, Strut wisely digs deep to unearth some rare gems from Kid Creole's many side projects such as Gichy Dan's Beachwood Number 9, Don Armando's Second Avenue Rhumba Band... and presents a wide cross-section of tracks that many may not have had a chance to listen to.

A required disc for any Kid Creole fan and a great way to fill those gaping holes in the collection.

Kid Creole is a very unique individual, so he has a lot of unique recordings in his background. THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD is of course a legend of a DISCO CLASSIC. SUNSHOWER was played in many clubs in New York, including anywhere JIMMY BURGESS played. The rest, gotta love THE KID!!
