Our friends over at Universal have embarked on a massive project to reissue hard-to-find Disco, Funk and Soul classics on CD. This series is made up of rare and extended mixes and are spread out across multiple editions and volumes. The editions are Funky Collector Volumes 1-18, Soul Collector Volumes 1-3 and Disco Collector Volumes 1 & 2, but more are being added.
Universal Music holds the rights to many of the tracks so they were able to go back to the original master tapes on many of the tracks to bring us this wonderful collection. A few tracks were taken from vinyl sources.
No serious collector should be without this entire multi-CD set. It covers the period from the early 1970's up through the 1980's. It's an excellent and well thought out representation of two decades of Disco dance music. It's obvious that great care was taken in choosing the right songs.
Each volume comes with its own highly unique artwork which is really stunning. The scan above doesn't do it any justice. I've listed the entire track listing along with direct links to order your copies.
