YOUR THOUGHTS & COMMENTS

Here it is, folks: the disco movement's "Ishtar" (or "Giglii", depending on your generational status.) Is it the worst disco recording of all time? Or just the worst idea?

Okay, go ahead... did you know that Ms. Merman was delighted to produce this album (no dummy here... she knew that, in later life, a lot of her admirers were gay disco fanatics) and put her all into it. One must listen to its entirety to appreciate what she was doing. She also knew that she wasn't long for the world.

Although never a witness to it personally, hearing her own songs being played at Studio 54 brought her many happy moments, a friend told me many years ago. She didn't realize that dj Roy Thode was making fun of her.

Why criticize an old lady for trying to feel young again? She had, with glee, agreed to play the part of Lola Lasagna in the "Batman" series, perhaps hoping to eclipse Eartha Kitt's "Catwoman."

I remember when she decided to do it she really thought the whole scene was invogarating and her word's were just everybody out there doing there own thing Hat's off to Ethel.
