YOUR THOUGHTS & COMMENTS
Copacabana was a fun song. I would say barry's only Disco song. His other material to me was good. It was a different time then. No "gangsta" crap.
I really like "Mandy"; get's me a little teary-eyed.
Not quite disco, but folks were dancing to it. Barry had a great ear for pop hooks. The Manilow Renaissance beckons; it's almost cool to like him again.
Barry released a track in the late 80s called "I'm Your Man". The dance remix proved to be quite popular on the gay scene for a while. However, the later release of the dance version of "Copacabana" overshadowed this reasonable contribution to the genre.
When it came out 'Copa' was a MONSTER, I used to open with it at the Visions Lounge in Hialeah, Fl., just to get everyone in the mood...Take it Lola!!!
A whole other side of my favorite song.

"who's been sleeping in my bed "used recently by daft punk was a disco monster!
I agree w/Pineyrican that At The Copa was a fun song. I'm sure that all of us tuned into 77 WABC back then to hear this and watched American Bandstand to see Barry perform it.
We seem to have forgtten "looking hot tonight" also released in the 80s
AT THE COPA was a DISCO CLASSIC. Yes it was DISCO. No doubt about it. It was the intension of the song, to be DISCO. BARRY would see the DANCERS hustling AT THE COPA, and intentionally made the song very dancable, and decided to add the Latin Bongos and Congos. When the song came out, EVERY DISCO IN NEW YORK played the groves off the records. It was on every radio station, on every television variety show. I heard it in Harlem, in Queens, in Brooklyn, the Bronx, the Village, Jersey, Connecticut, you name it, it was played there! In a House Party? FORGETABOUTIT!! New York City ADOPTED this song as an ANTHEM!! Hell, it became a PLAY!!!A Great MUSICAL!! The Copacabana, the hottest spot north of HAVANA!!!
