You had to be there, as BINGHAMTON'S FERRY BOAT went wild when Maynard's horn belted out PAGLIACCI. It was such an exceptional song, that the floors would spill out full of dancers. A PRIME TIME PLAYER in my club, always. LOVED TO PLAY IT!! On my scale, this hidden DISCO CLASSIC gets a TEN!!

Maynards Ferguson's "Pagliacci" was released in early '76 on the "Primal Scream" Columbia LP (PC33953)an excellent LP.

This version of Pagliacci is a Jazzy Disco adaptation that was part of the 'underground' Disco sound of the day.

Maynard Ferguson also released in 1977 the "Coquistador" Lp with his Disco version of "Gonna Fly now" (Theme from Rocky)and his outstanding version of "Theme from Star Trek".

This excellent Jazz/Disco LP includes performances by other well known musicians like George Benson, Patti Austin, Ralph Macdonald, Gwen Guthrie and many others.

RIP Mr Ferguson and thanks for the great body of outstanding music you left behind for us to enjoy.

Bernie, If I can recall, I might be wrong, but Maynard Ferguson had another song, it was an excellent version of PAGLIACCHI, the opera song. Not sure if it was him, nut remember the instrumental horn driven song. It was excellent. Anybody out there know what I'm talking about?
