Weird Al Yankovic
Alfred Matthew Yankovic was born in California on October 23rd, 1959. He went on to become an accomplished accordion player, a deejay in collage. He started making fun of songs he heard on the radio, and played himself. He was given the nick-name WEIRD while still in high school. He started with Dr DEMENTO, by sending him parodies of songs. Soon he had a recording contract with Capitol records thanks to THE KNACK whose big hit MY SHARONA was parodied by AL as MY BOLOGNA. He turned that talent into a career. Soon as a deejay, I found myself actually playing EAT IT(BEAT IT), ANOTHER ONE RIDES THE BUS, I LOVE ROCKY ROAD, RICKY, LIKE A SURGEON, AMISH PARADISE and my personal favorite I LOST ON JEPORADY. I actually would play that along with Greg Kahn's JEOPARDY note by note, switching, and echoing them. It was fun, a gas. He is an UNLIKELY ARTIST!!
