YOUR COMMENTS ON Bette Midler

A much better Disco entry is her version of "Strangers in the night", this cut was a club hit in the early days of Disco, the extended 12" version (4:17) is available from Atlantic.

Why Bette didn't plunge headlong into disco is a mystery; she wasn't exactly burning up the charts during this period. Atlantic was churning out a lot of great female vocal stuff that she could have knocked out of the park.

One of the most important things for a site to remember is their responsibility to detail and facts when printing info, and someone here has not done their homework. Bette Midler is not, nor has ever been, "lead singer of the Harlettes," or even a "Harlette" for that matter. The Staggering Harlettes are Bette's back-up girls on tour, changing personel with each tour, also.

Actually she WAS A VERY LIKELY ARTIST who didn't go in the DISCO direction. She was extremely popular with the GAY crowd back then, her Stage show in GAY venues proved that.Wasn't Melissa Manchester one of her Back-up singers?
